I haven't finished the game yet, so I don't know if it would make sense to have story expansions that take place after the main story. What might be cool is if we get some one-off DLC expansions, inspired by DnD campaigns that are intended to last a single session. So we roll a new character, or pick from a selection of others, and start a new adventure. Could be somehow connected to the main story or it could be its own separate thing. The important thing is it uses the same foundation as the original game, but with new locations, new monsters, new quests, etc. Maybe each one could even include new stuff that could be used in the main story, like a new race option or something. Characters made in these one-offs wouldn't necessarily have to be stuck in those DLC settings, either. Like say one of the expansions has a theme of Werecreatures, where your main character is infected with some type of lycanthropy at the start of the story. You could potentially join another player online who is doing the main campaign with your Wererat character.

I don't know. It's taking me a long time to get through this game. It has plenty of replay value, so it wouldn't be the end of the world if we never got any DLCs. But at the same time, it seems like kind of a waste for a game with so much success not to get any expansions. I don't want to have to wait fifteen years for Baldur's Gate 4. lol
