I'm guessing you never tried the mod that adds all items to a single barrel then. This game has more than enough gear with unique appearances to warrant this addition. You just need to know where to find it. You're right that theres a big difference between BG3 and MMORPGS but the difference that actually matters here is that MMORPGS constantly throws identical gear with neigh identical stats at you.
But like I said the main reason I want this is so my gear can match. The earliest example I can think of where this would be nice to have is when/if players choose to kill Minthara and loot her armor after. It looks great, has decent stats, and even comes with matching boots and gloves. However the matching boots and gloves don't have any stats and there's a good chance the player will already have some with better stats (that don't match) by then.
