It seems like as long as the trading menu gets opened a 2nd time, that's all that is needed to fix the bug. No actual trades required, just gotta open the trade menu.

From looking at the patch notes it looks like they tried to make your save data hold onto you preference for trade vs barter. I'm guessing that's where this bug is coming from! Seems like when you perform your 1st trade after the latest patch, this bug happens.

TL;DR: Open the trading menu a 2nd time to fix the bug with saving

I gave this a go and it does not seem to work for me. I'm in Act 3 and trying to trade with a rat in the Flaming Fist dungeon cells (inside the Lower City). I tried to go back into the rat's trade menu a second time, exit, and quick save and it didn't work. So I went to a different vendor, entered the trade menu, exited, and it does the same thing showing "Save failed".

So this seems to be a hit or miss fix. Hopefully it helps others though.

Can also confirm too though that this is not just an Act 1 Druid Grove issue. It's definitely game wide. I should clarify that I use mods but not the "Bags, bags, bags" one a lot of people seem to use. I have seen posts on reddit of people saying they use no mods at all and are encountering the bug. So it seems to be a fair mix of people having this issue.

I'm running a modded game and I tried the suggestions and was able to save [act 2, assault on moonrise]. I had to click on quartermaster menu more than once, but I got it to work for now. I do think whatever this bug is, 3Jackdaws is right.

So for me it seems the "fix" is that you need to make sure you're in the Barter menu of the shop menus to prevent the game from failing to save. This involved some finagling for me of going in, buying/selling what I need to, and then going in and out of the trader menu once or twice more and making sure that it's set on Barter mode NOT Trade mode. Then and only then am I able to exit the menu and save/quicksave as normal.

I recall that being basically my experience. Hopefully this workaround keeps working for everybody until we get the next hotfix, thanks for confirming, Remmie.

Bingo

This is what's been breaking my game.

First it was the myconoid trader and I thought it had to do with fast travel in the Underdark. Than the Grymforge trader broke it again.

I've just encountered this issue and none of the steps on this post are helping... gonna have to just wait for a patch I guess coz its unplayable otherwise.

@All

Make sure with traders you're doing two things.

First, you have the barter interface up (when you access the trader), not the trade interface. If you switch to the barter interface while on the trader screen, you have to leave and then reopen trade with them so the barter interface shows up first.

Second, make sure you don't use a dialogue option to access the trader, like "Show me your wares." Instead, make sure you're using the trade icon on the lower left of the screen when you start talking with the trader.

If you follow these two steps, you should be able to save. Let me know if you can't as this fixed it for me.

The only vendor I've found that does not have a trader dialog box was in act 3. I had to fallback to a prior save. The rest of the vendors worked fine using the fix.

Is this fixed after patch 4? Everytime I visit a trader I have to switch to the barter screen, exit, go back and switch to the trade screen. Otherwise I can't save anymore.
