Larian Studios Forums Baldur's Gate III Baldur's Gate III - Multiplayer Discussion Custom character refuses to follow after being left in camp

My husband and I are playing the game with 4 custom characters. Two additional people logged into our game to create our second character each, and then logged out, and we have been controlling our two characters each with no problems since then.

Today we left one of my custom characters (Jade) in camp so we could briefly bring an NPC into our party to advance their personal quest. We then left that NPC at camp and brought Jade back into the party. Now, Jade refuses to follow my main character (Sapphire). She just stands there no matter how far Sapphire walks. I can walk around as Jade and Sapphire will follow. I've tried saving the game, exiting to desktop, and reloading, but she still just stands there.

Side Note, in case it helps anyone: the wardrobe only appears in the normal/outside camp you are likely to see when you're outside in Act 1. Even if you're in some other area, like the Underdark or somewhere from Act 2 that sends you to some other camp, you'll have to use a waypoint to somewhere outside in Act 1 and go to your camp from there to see the wardrobe. You MUST go to the standard outside camp to retrieve your custom character.

Same issue is happening to me... I'm running a 3 player game. I dismissed a character to the Wardrobe in favour of using Lazeal for the creche and when I finished and returned to camp and rejoined the character I'm find that they won't follow but everyone else follows when I control the broken character
Further testing has resulted in being unable to replicate the issue....
Will have to go back to the save prior to entering the Creche and doing it all again....
Let's hope that the save doesn't corrupt again
I think after doing the main character events for Laz'el I switch back to my normal party

Have you tried ungrouping everyone and then grouping them back?
On controller, L2 -> Square > Triangle

Yup, same for me in my single game with 3 custom characters - the wardrobe-system seems a bit broken right now. Also sometimes it's empty, even if I just put a character in there. Also: Why do we need a wardrobe? Why not just have them hanging out in camp as the hirelings/companions do. Can anyone explain to me why we need a wardrobe? The whole thing seems silly.

Yes, tried ungrouping and re-grouping. Tried shuffling people around. Tried passing her to my husband's control, then back again. She refused to follow anyone once she'd been put in the wardrobe.

Exact same problem, I play with my girlfriend and it's really frustrating and we had to stop the game hoping that the new update solves this very serious problem. What do you think, is there hope for tomorrow?

Unfortunately I didn't see anything in the patch notes about this. Fingers crossed for the next one I guess. :\

Rumour has it future patches will include a lion and a witch......
