I have searched the suggestion forum and found two threads that deal with more container options:

TLDR: Please add more container types, even when it is just a visual thing (basically a different name and icon in the inventory). These should include Potion case, Scroll case/Map case, Quiver/Bolt case, Gem bag/Jewelry bag... I bet you can come up with further types. Junk bag might be an option for wares...
Long rant and reasoning: Currently, it does not matter what the container is named (aside from three already special container types - keyrings, alchemy bags, camp supply bags), you can place anything inside and it is still accessible through hotkeys. Current options are limited in terms of what is offered, though, to sacks, bags and pouches - so far I have found 2 unique containers in the whole game - hollow book and letter box. Hollow book is just reskinned container (the kind of I would like more), the letter box actually adds auto-collect function just like keyring does but as it is found in act 3 only, it seems pretty useless for general inventory management.
It would be very nice having few more options, and the cost of these options is fairly low compared to the immersion gains. I can see this working in three steps:
Step 1) make reskinned containers similar to a hollow book - quivers, bolt cases, scroll cases, map cases, potion cases, gem bags, jewelry bags, whatever else comes to your mind. No special function, just a reskin - for the previous 7, you would need 7 more description lines, 7 icons, 7 images for examine part and 7 models for the world where these can be lying somewhere. Not a whole lot to program. Make them available through vendors from act 1 in decent amounts (consider multiplayer games where each player might like to have one, compared to single player where just Tav may need them badly.
Step 2) add the appropriate containers as starting equipment to some classes, possibly - wizards and clerics could get the scroll case, rangers a quiver or bolt case, rogues a gem bag. Completely optional but fits the background. Add them to places in the world aside of vendors.
Step 3) the real programming part - make the containers auto-collect the appropriate item types (such as the letter box does), make this a function that can be switched on/off, ...
Even going with the step 1 is huge immersion moment for me, and big help in sorting the inventory.
Of course you can be more fancy and do small potion cases, big potion cases, potion belts, dagger belts, make this all show on the character model, make them dye-able, ..., but please do not stop the easy step one by blocking it by these big tasks that are not 100% necessary.
