4.1.1.3732833 I have this version on geforcenow and on boosteroid. And I have the before picture what you posted. Intresting. Mybe it's settings. I do use default settings cuz I have ultimate tier. Mybe they changed some graphic improvements to get some frame rate and it had some effect. Honestly I don't know but I have that picture what you pointed out as Before.

Well I'm glad you have the game unbugged. I cannot say the same for myself and my friends. My settings are all on ultra.

I don't understand why Larian is focusing on needless cosmetic stuff (some improvements, some like Raphael decidedly not) when bigger issues like gameplay exist. Devs need to look at the simplified leveling up and do something about it, not to mention add another difficulty layer. There's nothing difficult about Tactician. Probably they have different specialisations in the development team. Some are writers, others tune the game engine, others are in charge of balancing. And then there is the hair stylist. He/she needs to have something to do too, you know.

This is likely less someone deciding it needed to be changed, and more likely an unintentional change that came about through bad product management + rushing to get the Mac version / Patch 3 out.

I'm guessing the hair change wasn't intentional. Thinking it was probably a byproduct of some other tweak that didn't get caught.
That said, I'm surprised folks feel this strongly about it. I'm not saying anyone's wrong for feeling that way. In fact, it's probably a good sign that people care this much.

I don't mind darker hair too much, it's the stubble that rubs me the wrong way. I'm also not sure if our saves can affect these kind of things, I mean, His Majesty lost his fur without problems for me.

I noticed his hair looks significantly still dark even after the patch that "fixed" it. However I noticed a major lighting change that seems to make *everything* dark in dialogues and light sources no longer effect the scene.

Hmm, when I created my char, 2 months ago, I couldn't get pitch black hair. It always turned out greyish or blueish or brownish. I don't know what patch-level it was at the time. If I have time I'll retry to create a character with ravenhair. Maybe that was fixed then.

Raphael is one thing, but they have yet to fix the eyeballs on the displacer beast. They dont even glow! Raphael can wait.

If you go the Grey Black, then in the 2nd hair color option their is a black option max that to 100%. That's how I get pure black hair. It still looks red black when you have blood in it tho.

Why don't you make a thread about it or put in a bug report like the rest of us have?
Raphael is a main character, this thread is about him.

I actually made a report and got this answer after hotfix 9: This issue should be now fixed. So I go into House of Hope - the hair is still very dark. Ok... I started a new game, the hair is still dark. They fixed the lighting I think, but the patch notes definitely lie, Raphael did not get his old hair color back and I don't think he will.
