Hello,

Only in BG3, half of my CPU cores show unusual temperatures above 90°C.
i7 13700K (32 Gd DDR5).

GPU (3080RTX ti) doesn't exceed 65°C.

I tested 2k and 4k and it's quite the same.

Any clues ?

Thank you

13700k and especially 13900k are very hot CPUs. They need good cooling when stressed.

Download Cinebench R23 from here for example https://www.techspot.com/downloads/6709-cinebench.htm right side panel has links for older versions.
Newest version is 2024, but I have not used it so I do not know temps from it.

With Cinebench R23 all core test 13700k is properly cooled if it does not hit 100 degrees celcius. If it hits it (immediately even) and starts temp throttling that is mark that cooling is not good enough.

It also means that if you want to maintain good temps in games that stress CPU lot (like bg3 does) you need to improve cooling. Case fans, better CPU cooler whatever you need.

My 13700k does not hit 100 degress on Cinebench R23 just barely. Over 95 degrees in warmest core yes. And it means temps somewhere 65-73 degrees in BG3. My cooler is AIO 280mm with 140mm good airflow fans.

Thank you,

I made a quick pass in my bios and changed fan speed from silent to max speed.
[EDIT] The problem remains the same anyway.
I hope dev team will make an update to fix this issue. I'll let the game for now...

PS : In Starfield, the CPU cores max temp are +/-40°C and 65° for GPU (same as BG3)

I have noticed that the game will turn on my fans for certain cutscenes (the vision of the three and the skeletons in the early tomb and I can’t understand why. These scenes for the most part have barely any movement compared to say the opening cinematics etc and they aren’t that graphically impressive

I’m going to be updating to a new better cooling fan but this seems to be an optimization issue?

Personally I think so as this is the only game having this effect on my CPU.
I tried to deactivate CPU hyperthreading too with no better result.

I'm waiting an update instead and let the game apart for now.

[edit] I flashed my bios today and the issue remains the same (all cores are +80°C and 1 or two + 95°C)
