IF you are getting this only after you trade try this:
Load a good save Go to trader DO not trade through dialogue Trade through the trade icon on bottom LEFT Do small transaction leave trade Try to save
If that worked, you should be fixed, it worked for all my characters...and also fixed the dialogue trade now too.
Hope that helps.
Now...why cannot I not access the mirror is another question... Interestingly this worked for me but only for one save. I traded with tiefling blacksmith, successfully saved and then tried trading with quartermaster and got the error again.

I have tried all the fixes suggested here; none have worked. I've tried selling things to both Sorcerous Sundries and the Beehive Goods around the corner; both give me this error no matter whether I initiate via dialogue, the trade icon, switch back and forth between selling and bartering, etc.

I got it to work again by talking to a second vendor but got messed up when approachinga third one in the Sorcerous sundries. It seems that this workaround doesnt work quite well.

EDIT: I got the error again talking to a random vender. I did not leave the game, I just repeated the above steps I listed...using the bottom left trade icon again etc...fixed it again...very odd bug. [color:#FF0000][/color]

I must apologize to the developers. The error has nothing to do directly with patch #3. The problem in my case was caused by a mod, mod: "Carry Weight Increased". I deleted it from the mod folder and lo and behold the game runs like before. No error after the conversation with the dealer and also no error when loading the game afterwards. Check your mods people.

I had the saving error as well after trading, although the workaround using the bottom left button did work.
Still felt shaky to me though, so I started uninstalling mods.
I had the following mods installed: - Tav's Hair Salon - Faces of Faerun - Horns of Faerun - Basket Full of Equipment
Removing the mod "Basket Full of Equipment" finally solved it for me, I could trade normally again via the dialogue and save after

Just got this error. I'm with the merchant that sales lingerie, I JUST arrived to it, and it was one of the reasons I was so happy with the game, looking forward to make my band of BDSM lovers the saviors of the world. Just bough a few, bang, error. I will not play until this is solved. What a friggin' disappointment of update. I wish games where like before, what you bough is what you get. All this stupid updates just brake the experience. And BG3 is one of the "" good "" ones, that's released in a semi-complete states.
What a shite show.

I can't get to the main menu on launch. Crashed 5 times in a row, made it to 100% on two of them but crashed before I could get to a menu.
No mods, can't get in the game to see if its related to a vendor.

Removing the mod "Basket Full of Equipment" finally solved it for me, I could trade normally again via the dialogue and save after BFE v1.1.0 Changelogs: Regarding Patch 3. After consulting with many other modders, including those responsible for the current BG3 modding tools. There is nothing broken in this mod as a result of Patch 3. Meaning that there is nothing that I as a modder could do to fix any Patch 3 issues. You also still need the Mod Fixer, which is included in this mod. ImprovedUI has also been updated for Patch 3. So make sure to update that, if you are using it. There is a bug in the base game, where you might not be able to save after trading with merchants. This bug also occurs with vanilla BG3, but only on existing saves, and it doesn't seem to be as common with unmodded BG3. Hopefully Larian will fix this in a future Hotfix. You can fix the issue by starting a barter dialogue with a merchant. You can also make a bug report to Larian. There is also an issue with the Magic Mirror with pre-Patch 3 modded saves. You can fix this issue by uninstalling all your mods, loading a save, saving your game and reinstalling mods. Prior to Patch 3 BG3 would crash when loading a save that had modded equipment equipped and the mod had been removed, but this is no longer the case. Removing some mods can still prevent you from loading those saves, but equipment mods, like the Basket, are no longer affected.

Yeah, I saw that too. However, the fact still remains, as soon as I removed the Basket mod I had no more issues whatsoever. It could of course just be an issue with mods in general, but for now I've been playing and trading for hours with no issues since I removed all my mods. I had the saving error as well after trading, although the workaround using the bottom left button did work.

DAMN!!! I also get this 516 error after trading now! And what's worse - when I remove the mods the game doesn't load, it just CTDs Is there a way in Steam to revert back to the version before this last update when I had absolutely no issues? And then disable the updates ENTIRELY AND FOREVER!!!

okay I had to create an account JUST to reply because I found a SOLUTION. Now this only works if you have Dammon in act 2. Now when I was trading within the emerald grove, I noticed after I could not save, and then the error message came up. Came to this forum and noticed this same issue happened when you would talk to the traders. BUT I noticed specific traders when you open the shop, and it goes straight to TRADE, this tells me that's when you know you cannot save, BUT Dammon is different. His shop- opens up like normal, straight to BARTER. trade with him and BOOM. Saves work like normal. Now My theory is the mods are affecting the saves and the vendors. Other than that, I have nothing.
Side Note: I would wreck Dammon, that handsome devil. OOF. I need a mod to bed him NEEOOOWWWW

What a shite show. There's a vendor that sells lingerie??? Dare I ask where? Gods, I love this game. Yeah, a few bugs here and there, but still... worth the pain.

Gods, I love this game. Yeah, a few bugs here and there, but still... worth the pain. Facemaker Boutique is the name of the shop, northwest corner of lower city. The game is stellar, but I've had two game breaking bugs so far. I wish they didn't push patches before weekends ):

YEEHA, think I've got it!!! Thanks to ScaryGreenGhosts's post I've tried to BARTER instead of TRADE with the vendor and voila - after this the game saves like normal! YOOOHOO!! Oh, and btw, I think it doesn't matter which trader in which act you do it with. I for example have just traded with Volo in my camp in act 1 and it worked! Well, seems like the trade is broken for now, so I'll just make sure that I barter... UPD: And also seems like you have to initiate the trade not trough a dialog's phrase but with the "Y" button (playing on a controller, don't know how it is on a K+M), otherwise it's 516 after the barter again

It kinda work for me, but no totally reliable. The sad part was loosing 5 hours of progress after I finally got to make my party all horndoggy in the Facemaker Boutique. That's when I realized that something was going on, when I went to my camp and tried the new mirror, it zoomed in, but nothing happened.

Deactivating the Basket of Equipment mod (setting it inactive in BG3ModManager), re-saving the game, then re-activating the mod and reloading the new save, fixed this problem for me. Also the mirror works. I just had to pick up the basket again down at the beach.

So for me this works, without disabling mods but I have to take 1 extra step.
Post 3 patch, vendors now open with trade. The bottom left opens as barter. Swap to trade, trade. Before exit switch back to barter.
Tested on a couple of merch in act 3, seems to work so far.

The mods I am running are: LSLib/Divine Tool, Mod Fixer, Dye Dye Dye, Everybody Dyes Unlimited Dying, Better Containers (5x5). I have to think though why allow mods in your game in the first place if problems like this are going to crop up. Why not look at the most popular mods and alter the game to fit those benefits those top mods provide in a future patch. The features the mods provide are obviously popular for a reason and need to be in the game to begin with.
