Seems like BG3 really shines as choose-your-own-adventure with dialogue and clearly delineated events to sell the story and meaning of actions and their consequences. The most glaring hole in this awesome tapestry seems to be if you decide to take out Gortash at the onset at his own coronation. A bunch of cool quests just go poof unnecessarily imo. Also, it seems impossible to save Duke Ravengard (from dying at least), even when I've contained him in an area with decent health and managed to kill all the other hostiles. The game lets you (arduously) take out Gortash and company, but it seems like it doesn't want you to and almost seems to want to let you know it, to somewhat punishing effect.

Anyone else feel like there is this glaring hole in the story-matrix as it pertains to proverbially knocking the king off the board in two moves? Suspicious like me they are railroading us a bit here? Overall, great CYOA, but this one just sticks out as a moment where the DM had a plan, and fine they'll let do you it your way, but they don't like it and want you to know you've paid.

Everything is rushed in act 3, hell the upper city was supposed to be explorable but was entirely cut before release. Ravenguard should only be in trouble when you’re in his zone from mobs or if you act against gortash. Otherwise he should be ok

It's easier to Save Ravengard when he transferred to the Prison.

I think there is some things that feels "abrupt", something you can do and succeed but the consequence is that you cut the story short.

The oddest part is you have many options to taking out Gortash but seemingly no way to even try addressing Duke Ravengard issues at the coronation (or am I missing it?). After the coronation, there are at least three other factions with motivation for dealing with the underwater thing, I don't see why they needed to scrub the underwater quest line either. Maybe they really don't want you avoiding certain story elements with Wyll and Mizora, IDK. Only really bring this thread up because they spend so much time creating back ups to the back up's back up back up but this central plot point feels railroaded or at least penned-in quite a bit more than normal for the game.
