In act 1 I found 3 infernal iron.
I used one for Karlachs quest in the grove and another one for Karlachs next quest in the inn.

Then I asked Dammon to forge an item "with the stuff I found in Grymforge".
He gave me an armor and the infernal iron disappeared from my inventory.
So far, so good.

Then I asked him to forge something with the stuff found in Grymforge again twice and he gave me a helmet and gloves.
Then the option disappeared and I can only trade with him.

I have no idea why I got 3 items when I only had 1 infernal iron piece which was gone after forging the first item.

note: I play in german. There were two options. One was to give him stuff I found in Grymforge with the result mentioned above. The other option was to give him something and he answered that I do not have that thing. Both options did not mention the exact name of what he needs, such as "infernal iron". Only Karlachs quests mentioned the term infernal iron.

note 2: I have to check my inventory later. Not that he reforged the 2 mithril items I forged in Grymforge.
