I wanted to "second"?? this issue. I noticed it after patch 3.
In my view, the entire inventory situation should be overhauled. Here's my suggestion:
Individual inventory per character. This should contain items which can be accessed immediately during combat. Potions, scrolls, weapons, etc... and should contribute to weight/encumbrance.
Community inventory. This should contain all of the miscellaneous items collected during a normal adventure day, gold, gems, weapons and armor not being used, quest items like books and notes, etc... And most particularly Keys and crafting items. Items here should be shared across the party, agnostic of who is actually carrying the item. And anyone in the party should be able to add or remove items from this at any time. Likewise, stuff like the shovel(s) should go there and be usable by everyone universally.
Key items should always go into the communal inventory by default, unless it is something specific that the MC should have. If someone is holding something, like the artifact, and leaves the party, it should be moved into the communal inventory. This should be the same for keys and crafting items as well, which should be communally available to all characters in any event. I suspect that this is the reason for the update that caused this thread. This is a better solution (imho). Just dump plot specific items into the communal inventory. I don't need 6 supplies backpacks, and 4 key rings and 5 crafting pouches (three of which are empty) in my MCs inventory. Nor do I need to hunt among all of my characters for the right ingredients, only to find that it is in Gale's inventory back at camp, just to make a potion.
Wares inventory. This should have all items "sent to wares". It should be a separate inventory entirely. The fact that I can "send something to wares" and it still clutters up my character's inventory is insane. It basically means there is very little use to this 'feature' in my view. Not none, but very little. Send that stuff away so it isn't cluttering up the inventory screen for individual characters. But it should still be an inventory unto itself, just in case something is placed in there by accident.
Camp supplies inventory. This is maybe an optional and of only limited use. But I routinely "send to camp" my camp supplies. About half of the time I am not convinced it goes anywhere as I can't find it in camp. Sometimes it goes into the Traveler's chest. Sometimes it doesn't. The only indication I have as to what supplies I have is the number value at the top of the character screen, and that seems wildly inaccurate. Sometimes it shows only what is being carried, and sometimes it shows a much bigger number.
As an additional note, make stuff in crates and things like the Travelers' chest sortable, filterable and organizable.
Add in Scroll cases. My MC is a sorcerer who collects all of the scrolls. These then clutter up my inventory as I have a wall of scrolls. Yes, I know I can use a backpack for that. Just saying, you can create a key ring (which doesn't always work) and a camp supply bag (which also doesn't always work), and a crafting case (see above about not always working), but no scroll case?
Additionally, when in camp, the player should have 100% access to the entire inventories of all people in camp (who have inventories). I shouldn't have to remove one person, add another person, remove items from them, dump them and re-hire the original character simply to swap items. This also goes for things like leveling up.
