I don’t think it’s right to completely ignore that many people voluntarily join the absolute. Yes with the parasite they ultimately wouldn’t be able to resist if they tried to but that doesn’t mean they can’t willingly join and then willingly do what they’re told without resisting. People aren’t usually tadpoled unless they prove their usefulness first; at least in terms of the actual cult members that receive it.
