Totally agree with this. In a tabletop game, the appropriate character would automatically step up and handle the situation because they're the best equipped to do so. One of the main reasons to have companions is to make up for the things that you lack. Having Wyll step in to handle a charisma based check is completely appropriate and more real to life to the way you'd handle a game with your friends at the table. Otherwise, your companions are just there for combat, which is a huge underuse of their skillsets.
