I have a problem where after about an hour of playing my game just crashes to desktop without warning. No error message is displayed, just the Larian crash report tool.

I thought my graphics card might be overheating so got a case with better airflow and added some fans but the problems continue. I have tried running at 1080p, limiting frame rate to 30FPS, using the Low graphics preset, but nothing seems to work. I have the most recent graphics driver according to Nvidia.

Any ideas what I can try or diagnostics that could show what the problem is?

System configuration:
  • AMD Ryzen 5 1600
  • MSI B450M PRO-M2 V2
  • Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1650 SUPER (4GB)
  • 32" LG UltraGear 2560x1440 Monitor connected by DisplayPort v1.4
  • Corsair 16GB DDR4 RAM
  • 1TB Western Digital Black SN750 M.2 SSD
  • Windows 10 22H2

1st why post in tips and tricks?

2nd if the Larian launcher error reporter popped up then it has detected a error report and will ask you to send that to Larian... that report should give better clues to what is actually going wrong

3rd as a side note are you: using mods, have some other software also running like discord or YouTube & if the system is crashing to desktop/ not blue screen then the base problem is more likely to be Ram not heat

I have a similar problem that started after hotfix #7... my game crashes from time to time.

As for heat being a possible problem, well, it could. But for me, I check the heat of my computer components with a program (an oldie but a goodie is speccy, it's free) which checks the heat of your computer as well as other things (I kept it running in the background). For me, heat is not the issue.

I have tried everything, verifying game files, updating drivers, shutting down and restarting the computer, having all the settings on low, etc... nothing has stopped the game from crashing.

I think the issue is hotfix #7 as I did not have this problem before.

Hopefully, Larian can rectify this if this is the problem.
