Hello,

I am wondering if anyone has run into this. I was not sure whether to put this in multiplayer or technical/gameplay.

Started multiplayer game with another player. Both of us are on PC’s. We saved the game. When we came back to play again things went wrong.

I could invite the player in, no problem, but our characters were reversed (I was playing theirs, they were playing mine). Gameplay was fine other than this. When I went to reassign the characters to the correct player and came back to the game, everything froze. The characters in the game were semi-translucent and wouldn't move. When I went to switch the players back, it still persisted, and the game was basically not playable. They were were just stuck in this semi-translucent mode.

Has anyone had this problem? Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix it?

Thanks,

Sidmandoo

So an update. This problem is occurring when my daughter is connecting on her PC and I'm on mine. When I asked a friend to connect from "outside" my network, it worked completely fine. No problems. So I am guessing this is a problem with the network set up in my home? The game can't distinguish the IP addresses maybe?

So, on the host computer, I fired up NordVPN to create a different IP address, and now everything seems to be working fine. Interesting problem. I am wondering if there is a way to solve this without using a VPN?

You can set your network router to assign each computer a different internal IP address i.e yours is 10.0.0.5 and hers is 10.0.0.4 each time instead of being random

Americans want 192.168.0.4 and say 192.168.0.5 because their networks are different to Australians but as long as each is fixed that is fine

Then for internet play (as apposed to internal networks) you can bridge each to a different location so Larian can tell them apart

Look up the book for your home router and it will have these settings or go talk to a local computer shop / ip provider about setting up a tunnel for best results
