After having Scratch bug out and disappear once, I now obsessively check the camp for both pets before leaving.
With Scratch, he disappeared after getting stuck behind the training dummy in the cave-themed camp. If a pet gets stuck in geometry in one camp, they'll be gone from all camps until you go back to the problem camp and free them. I threw the ball for Scratch and he teleported to it. But I've heard using the fog spell on them also causes them to teleport out of the stuck position.
