Similar issue, but a little different. Looks like starting the whistling/fingersnap animation you get when you have no equipped instrument, even with various instruments equipped. However, the hands light up like a spell is being cast, and then the performance is aborted after ~1-2 seconds. This started before Patch 3 and is still happening after HF7.
