Why would they think we would want to play Astarion without Neil's amazing performance?!
It boggles the mind. I never liked Larian's origin characters, it's a waste of resources IMO. I prefer to either play a blank slate I fill with backstory myself (like Tav) or a character with a bit of a backstory but a lot of wiggle room for roleplaying (like DUrge, Shepard, the Dragon age characters etc.)
Either way, ending slides would be consolation prize for me. I don't mind them and they would round it all out, but the ending sours for me bad when I don't get a chance to talk to anyone or get their reactions. They've been robotic since I entered the Lower City though so I don't know what I was expecting.
Just ending slides would be a let down as well. As many have mentioned in other threads, we need something akin the Tiefling Party, but in the Elfsong Tavern. I think Dragon Age Inquisition got it quite right in the base game ending - a party with all companions and advisors and then, when you are ready to retire, you get halted by your LI and have a last private moment with them.
"Redeemed" Durge and ascended Astarion are the closest we can get to world domination now, just without the brain. You can tell Astarion
I didn't raze the world in Bhaal's name, I will raze it in ours.
I really love that line.
That's my preferred ending as well for evil DUrge. Still bloodthirsty, but
defying Bhaal after the Orin fight.
