Thank you Niara, your post is great as always and exactly, what I thought: of course they scratch the only small race character for the hunky elf, who became a bad meme.
GloriousZote: who says, that she will be small as a werewolf? You don't even give her a chance , because ' haha, minidog'.

I would love it if they add her as a DLC. Can we start a petition? Would love to. Maybe if this thread would become as long as those Halsin and Minthara threads. What would you all love to see as Helias quest?

I would have loved the idea of a Hafling Bard, they could have skipped the werewolf line and I would have been fine.
She would have made a perfect companion, always chattering about chronicling this fight or that in verse. For a personal story line instead of a tragedy, we could have had a quest to find some special "instrument" or perhaps clues to find some lost song or music based magic.

A good aligned non werewolf halfling bard chronicling the events of the game? Now why does that sound so familiar to me...hmm... But yeah if Larian ever decides to do a companion DLC I hope they add Helia or at least a comp that isn't a human/elf. A little bit of variety wouldn't hurt.

I suppose so, though I guess that adds more questions in lycanthropic transformation and how all of that works. Still, despite all of that still better than Halsin, who apparently has some removed Voice lines that suggest that his interest in animal-on-humanoid goes further than just shapeshifting.

Also when I imagine a werewolf, and think romance, I'd like to think the werewolf is larger than me, you know... I mean, I'm not alone in that, right?

I was leaning more towards a non-romancable companion to be honest. But I'll leave that to the furry professionals. Just be careful what you wish for or you'll end up with another Halsin.

Critical Role's Chetney is a wizened gnome werewolf and he gets all the ladies! He's also treated as something of a joke, even by his player, but when the rubber meets the road he is definitely no laughing matter.

Hm, can't say I'm a fan of Critical Role, never watched it but they're not exactly on the same political side as me, and politics has spread to quite a big topic especially on the internet lately. Also I blame them for bringing the "normies" to d&d. Also a Wizard? That's the last class I'd expect to get something out of lycanthropy.

Not everyone and everything has to be romanceable and even if, I made a halfling bard in my first playthrough and she romanced Shadowheart and the scenes were cute and tasteful. And I like the idea of Helia trying to find a legendary song. Or if she is a werewolf, that she has to come to terms with her lycanthropy, maybe a certain character in act 3 can help, given, he is a werewolf and not something else.

IDK about you but I would've loved to romance a werewolf, its bad enough that we can't romance a goblin or a dragon yet... As for companions I don't really count half-elves as elves, Halsin personally should've been a Half-Orc or a Half-Elf because I refuse to accept any pure blooded elf having that body type.

I just want a great companion, imo the problem is, that there is too much focus on romances. I'll be ok with just Helia being a great character. If a romance, then a tasteful one, not some over the top kink like with Halsin.

I'll agree with that, can't say I'm a fan of every character being into you, of the existing especially Gale, come on man, you're gonna cheat on Mystra?

Gale can't cheat on Mystra, because they aren't an item anymore by the time we meet him. And I have the feeling, that at one point, he is glad about it, seeing how fickle the gods are.

Personally I'd open him up for romance only after he's started thinking badly of Mystra, otherwise I'd keep him reserved with him wanting her back.

I think Helia was pretty much an earlier version of Halsin. Yes, a bard companion like Alfira would have made sense but we already have 2 druids in this game.

I don’t have much to say on this subject; however, I have always felt that she was cut because the “adult” content would possibly push her into certain controversies…
