It was a very stupid decision to remove minor encounters. With the Enthralled Fishermen, they probably didn't feel like reworking the non-lethal combat system more sensibly....

It's also obscure to me why the Dwarfen Fake Paladin of Tyr, Rurik, was removed, when so many wanted a better difficulty level.

Especially the small encounters with short dialogues make the game world so much more lively and I prefer a thousand times than the dull long-winded never ending companion dialogues...

It's also conceivable that it will return with a Definitive Edition, but it does leave a bad taste in my mouth when minor details that were already in EA are removed for the vanilla version and then later "advertised" as additional content for a Definitive Edition.
