This game was amazing and clearly the team is full of amazing writers. I just completed my first playthrough of over 100 hours and am about to start my second playthrough. That being said, the ending was overwhelmingly lackluster. The final fights were okay, but after spending all this time bonding with companions, I wish there was a way to switch them out during the final fight.
Also, the final cutscenes left a lot to be desired. Those did feel rushed, but if DLCs were added to go and follow-up with our companions, that would be cool. Such as, my ending was with Astarion. It would be great to have a DLC to help him walk in the sun again. Or a DLC that allowed your romantic partner and TAV to seek out your other companions. In that case, it could be something like helping Karlach and Wyll escape Avernis or delve deeper into Shadowheart's religious choices. I realize not having a happy ending for everyone is more realistic, but again, after so many hours and emotional quests, more follow-up would be great.

I also don't understand what the purpose was of choosing whether or not to celebrate at the end and not even getting a cutscene of them partying.

Third, the upper city of Baldur's Gate. I wish we could have explored the city somehow. It was right there the entire time. Even getting there through the sewer's or something. It just would have been nice to have some quests that allowed us to explore it since at least for me, I felt as though our whole journey was leading us there. So to only get to see it in shambles was disappointing.

Again, this was an amazing game that was extremely detailed and fleshed out. I only wish the ending matched that level of detail, but hoping that this could be an opportunity to expand upon!

I found myself a little annoyed with the final battle, not that it wasn't cool and epic - it is - but because half my company were left idling in camp while all this epic stuff was going down. I think a necessary and logical change to the end-game "Gather Your Allies" roster should consist of any companion not actually part of the group. They'd not be under the player's control of course - but able to take part.

I'd rather call for Minsc, Jaheira or Gale than a bunch of city guards or harpers. Also the fact calling them in takes an Action meant I really didn't have much opportunity to call many of them in anyway, Mizora did make an appearance and Disintegrated the Emperor, which was bloody awesome, but I felt a bit cheated that the regular companions just weren't there until after it was over.

I think it starts with the speech in the destroyedn building with all your friends. I think they tried to make it "funny" but it is just shamefull and childish somehow. Everythink you say is just awkward and when Jaheira hold the speech iit is --- not really good. frown

I'm so glad someone else pointed this out. It just makes no sense to me that the fate of the world rests on the outcome of this final boss battle, yet more than half of my camp companions seemingly choose not to contribute to it (well obviously they can't choose, but that's what it feels like).

Agreed, this should be default. The "Call Allies" should also include options for all the companions idling in camp, but maybe this was a way to safeguard them against death.
