With the way Larian has implemented a Swords Bard in BG3 (e.g. Flourishes are much stronger than in 5e) and the items available that work well with it (e.g. the Band of the Mystic Scoundrel, Gloves of Baneful Striking, Helmet of Arcane Acuity), I think it's got a strong case to be one of the strongest classes in the game, if not the strongest. I actually ended up having to apply self-nerfs (e.g. only allowing one successful Bardic Flourish a turn, not allowing a ranged slashing flourish to attack the same target twice) because it felt too OP. Casting AoE control spells at 100% success (or close to) chance as a bonus action whilst still getting to make hard hitting weapon attacks with your action(s) is no joke.

BTW I was running a Sorc 2/Swords Bard 10 and did sometimes wear robes with my Bard (+3 AC unarmoured from Draconic Sorc and access to Shield spell made that viable).

Agreed, my sword bard felt very overpowered, with double crossbow and flourishes, she killed high armoured, high levelled enemies in one round.
