Everybody focuses on combat, where sorcerer will always outshine wizard. I’m playing a wizard right now and I’m having a ball, but not because of combat. The utility is awesome. That’s where wizards are justified. Being able to swap out your spells whenever you are not in combat was a great choice from Larian. I’m constantly find different spells to change the way I interact with and explore the map, or deal with certain quests.
For my build, I went with necromancer since minion master isn’t something sorcerer can pull of to give this play a different feel. Creating a bunch of zombies is good, silly fun.
