It’s bard 10/ fighter 2 which is still a Bard build.

you still get my point that pure fighter or multiclass it is ridiculas class

try bear barb 6/fighter 6, immortal killing machine that potions do overheal cause he reduce 50% dmg to all types and can get easy access to crit immune

I’m going to suggest that this discussion has gone way off topic. The OP requested ideas of how to play a bard, which they want to do for RP reasons, so it doesn’t feel relevant or helpful to get stuck on what other classes do better, particularly when we’re just going round in circles.

DYNIA, you have made your point that you don’t rate bards. I’d suggest that you therefore leave this thread to those who enjoy them anyway, and let them discuss ideas for the class without being further derailed.

Thank you Red Queen.

I would have loved a theater storyline for a bard character btw.

If you go lore bard, make sure to grab Hypnotic Pattern and Glyph of Warding, nice AoE damage and cc.
For Magical secrets I would suggest Counterspell and Misty Step as utilities and maybe Fireball and another damage spell.
I used Phalar Aluve with my lore bard right into end game. It has a great synergy with bards.

Personally I really wouldnt get Misty Step because Bard already gets Dimension Door.

Dimension Door is awesome, but it was a bit bugged for me, it didn't always work,so I got Misty Step ( and MS is probably my favourite spell in the game apart from Speak with Animals)

Not to create a new thread:

I want to create a proper dual wielding “blade” character.

Swords Bard get’s a TWF style and proficiency with scimitars and longswords, and there are some finesse variations of those (or you can cheese the giant strength elixirs and dual wield whatever you want)

So 6 levels in Swords Bard, then 3 levels of Thief (which also fits from RP perspective) and the build fully comes online at level 9.

That way you are a proper skill monkey, face character, that can attack 4 times per round without haste, double dipping into damage modifiers (certain helmet allows you to add CHA bonus to damage on top of everything else) or with another helmet you can raise your spell DC and land those crucial CC spells reliably.

You can play honestly and focus on finesse weapons, or get elixirs and wiled whatever you want, so this is how you can play your bard.

Don’t know how it will fare against my Rogue playthrough that stacked Crit and had those OP piercing vulnerability weapons at the end to one shot any target and Invis Dark Urge cloak from start, that could also talk anyone into killing themselves and break any 30 DC lock with ease. But we will see laugh

I currently play a sword bard/ rogue Durge and level 30 locks are no problem. It's a fun multiclass.
