maybe I'll have [Halsin] be a Bard/Rogue who cons people into thinking he's a druid, the same way he cons people into thinking that he's a pure blooded elf, you might as well give him facial hair at this point, I can see through Halsin's lies, I know the truth.
It is the working theory shared by myself and a few others that Halsin is, in fact, not an elf at all. He's actually the former animal companion of a previous arch druid - an Awakened Bear. He has learned to use wild shape, which he uses to assume the form of an Elf - or at least his best ursine approximation of one. This is why he's such an incredibly
Shit druid, who can only do one wild shape (it's jsut him reverting to normal), when wildshaping is a novice druid skill, and why even then he both A) claims he cannot control himself properly when in the wild shape, despite it also being a novice acolyte level thing that you retain your full mental and emotional faculties when assuming an animal form, and B) why he apparently can lose control of himself and 'accidentally' shift into bear form when he gets over-excited. It explains why his capabilities as an arch-druid are extremely lacking and he doesn't have anything near the level of competency or spell-craft that an archdruid should have.
It all makes perfect sense really. Halsin is actually an awakened bear, using wildshape to pretend to be an elf.
I mean, let's face it, Halsin is a shit character after act 2 and doesn't make sense as an archdruid. If I makes druid, she is more competent than Halsin. I like your idea, it would make sense. I thought, he would turn out to be a werebear, after Helia wasn't implemented, but that too was wrong. He is just really bad at his job.
Killer rabbit: I get, that one might be sick of certain tropes, I' m sick and tired of vampires of the Twilight and beyond era. Those are not vampires. I rolled my eyes hard when Astarion was introduced, though he is a bit better than the Twilight crap. I only can endure him in smaller doses though.
I don't think, that the werewolf thing had to necessarily be Helias main stick, it could have to do with all kinds of different things. A user ( Cowoline) made the suggestion to tie her to the hag storyline for example. I always wondered, if the halfling girl, you can save in the teahouse, was supposed to be Helia.
