Then I tell her about my new beautiful form and let's just say the tone of her response was... slightly different. Then I went to Astarion and he told me the Slayer stinks. Which, fair. It does look like it doesn't exactly smell of roses.

Some parts of Durge are well made, like the things you can find in Moonrise.
Or Gortash being a fan.
The rest, well. Let's say there's some room for improvement.
I forcefully
lost the duel to Orin to see what'd happen, and after Bhaal resurrected me and said I was worthless to him, she said that even the Lord of Murder has lost faith in me and that her commiserations would be wasted on me.
That's a 100 approval romance worthy reply right there.

Pfff oh my gods I'm sorry but that's hilarious. Even Astarion was nicer about it.

So far, the most satisfying DUrge ending is the one where you:

Become Bhaal’s chosen and defy him at the last moment. It’s so cathartic seeing DUrge violently offing themselves to spitefully deny Bhaal the satisfaction of punishing you.

Sadly, that ending is a sequencing mess with zero reaction from your love interest. I’m disappointed there isn’t a way to win against him under your own power, and what we get instead basically just reverts DUrge back into Tav.

It boggles the mind. I never liked Larian's origin characters, it's a waste of resources IMO. I prefer to either play a blank slate I fill with backstory myself (like Tav) or a character with a bit of a backstory but a lot of wiggle room for roleplaying (like DUrge, Shepard, the Dragon age characters etc.)

They've been robotic since I entered the Lower City though so I don't know what I was expecting.

Just ending slides would be a let down as well. As many have mentioned in other threads, we need something akin the Tiefling Party, but in the Elfsong Tavern. I think Dragon Age Inquisition got it quite right in the base game ending - a party with all companions and advisors and then, when you are ready to retire, you get halted by your LI and have a last private moment with them.

I really love that line.

That's my preferred ending as well for evil DUrge. Still bloodthirsty, but
defying Bhaal after the Orin fight.

Is it weird that the throne looks like Vergil's plastic lawn chair from DmC V, (It's from a mod, but the lawn chair is somehow more memorable than Vergil's actual chair), thinking about it, I might make a Vergil Durge.

I had heard that the Durge playthrough was interesting and that Ascended Astarion got more dialogue. So I decided to combine them and go evil to explore different choices.

Was interesting till Act 3, as per usual, but I was thinking like, "at least I'll get a different ending" and I pushed through it.

Well, I took over the brain after betraying The Emperor and I swear to gods, I thought my game glitched with how quickly it ends. I'm on my throne and *BLIP* *credits roll*

...what? That's it? Yay Bhaal's happy and...yeah?

So I was mad I got nothing from all my efforts, so I reloaded. Did the whole fight again and chose this time to kill the brain.

Well this time, I got the dock scene. I was expecting no less than what I got last time which was already kind of bad but at least I get some time to talk to my romance after? Maybe? But no...

If you didn't resist your Urge up until that point, you still get a blip of dialogue from people but then your eyes go red, there's a small thing about you saving the city, and then credits roll...again.

No romance conversation, nothing from Shadowheart or Minthara or Astarion just...nothing.

I'm lead to believe that you get SOMETHING if you resist Bhaal and I have a save I can reload to experience that but honestly? Why bother?

I've now seen 3 iterations of the ending of the game and everything is just so. Damn. Unsatisfying.

How in the world did they think endings where no one says anything meaningful, no options to talk to your companions or romance, no final goodbye or "what are your plans now?", no explanation on your affect on the city other than "you're heroes now" like...it just screams while they were writing this up that someone in the room was like "WRAP IT UP! WE NEED THIS GAME TO END!"

So sad...so disappointing.

You've had some of the best characters from a game I've seen in years. You had the potential to be the best game I've ever played. Why why why....

Happened the exact same to me and I was so disappointed, I thought my ending was bugged.

That's how it feels! It ends so fast, I thought my game broke. And while I'm sure Larian didn't mean it this way, it felt like a middle finger. "You're STILL trying to be evil? Well no closure for you! *end*"

You know what really cracks me up? Emperor's full cinematic backstory is longer and done better than any ending you can get.

It's not like any good ending is any better though

Swen (Larian CEO) said specifically that it was their entire design team's and his own thought that players would have zero interest in long cinematics at the end so the endings were wrapped up abruptly. According to Swen, they are absolutely shocked that the community has the opposite reaction to this. But it's that mantra that led to the endings being what they are at present.

I honestly laughed out loud at the companion dialogue I got with the evil Durge ending.

Was doing an evil ascended Astarion romance like you, to which he said something along the lines of ruling the world together directly to the PC when finishing Durge’s arc and just before subduing the brain for good, then to him suddenly flipping out literally all but 5 seconds later as I was just about to do as he had asked, only to realise that I’m enslaving all my companions without any input from the player. I think this is the same for a non Durge evil run too, but I was just so done by the end that I could only laugh at these crappy endings and poorly reactive choices.

Spawn Astarion has the same dialogue if you decide to control the brain. Someone messed up some flags somewhere. Hopefully.

And yeah the ending is the same for evil Tav in that case.

Yeah, I heard that line in an interview as well!

What I find funnier is that Larian takes pride in knowing their playerbase, but I mean, judging by this one example, do they really know us?

I personally, would love some type of after ending party (unless ofc you dominated the brain, so no party? or something else in that case? talking to your minions atop the brain perhaps?) a'la DAO's Anora/Alistair coronation where you get to talk to all your companions before proceeding to the ending slides. Also, I would happily watch 30min worth of these awesome cutscenes Larian has created in BG3.

Also, speaking of evil Durge, I can't bring myself to do that run... yet. I will eventually, I know how it ends, but yeah, hoping for some patches along the way maybe. But overall, all endings currently are kind of 'meh'. Could be worse (ME3 worse) and could be waaaaaaaaay better too. We'll see what happens in the future.
