BACKGROUND
Iencountered random shutdown and turn off when playing BG3 on laptop. This only happened on BG3 and never on other games even modern ones like Starfield.
- my laptop is 2019 Lenovo Legion Y530 ICH with core i5 , 1050ti , 32 gb ram and 1 TB hdd
The totally random shutdown happened on battery or when plugged in. Already switched the battery to new one and problem persisted.
SOLUTION (for me)
To Those who still have this problem i suggest :
- Run BG3 on Administrator mode
- Set on low / med setting , a high setting sometimes works but not as stable as medium
- Use ThrottleStop app , set overall as low or battery , disable turbo and speed step on the 2 checkboxes. WARNING : setting ThrottleStop with Performance mode WILL cause the computer to turn off in BG3
