Yeah it's a shame that they decided to appeal to the horniest people to sell the game, credit to them that it worked.
This is not entirely on Larian. I mean, look at the posts here sometimes - people even want to bang that drider .
Yeah I know, I just hate that it worked.
Same for me. It means we will continue to see games getting dumbed down, style over substance and now more sex getting added instead of actual relevant game content. Reminds me of Idiocracy. "Starbucks: Exotic coffee for Men"...

Please don't tell me, I will get flirts with a guy, who has a frigging spider body? I mean, not that I ever talk to him, I just kill him, but the thought left scars in my poor brain .
But yeah, generally I often think, that lot of people use games like Gragon Age, Baldurs Gate ( from 2 on or 1 with mods) and others as dating Sims. It is ok for me, if there is romance, but I would like some more stuff.

I don't think there is anything at this point that can convince me that Fylimar isn't a halfling in disguise and is fighting for the rights and inclusion of short races in video games. I do hope you get Hellia in BG3 tho.
Think the issue is that majority of people and devs (unfortunately) don't take character/stories surrounding little folk seriously or as mentioned sexy enough (not every npc/companion needs a flirt option, its ok for the MC to just be friends with them.) thus leading to them being overlooked or in BG3 case replaced. And when they do include them they are treated as a joke more than not.

Are you kidding me? You know how popular shortstack girls are among coomers? Couple of Baalbuddy comics will show you.
Here's one:
Jokes aside, it's a shame we didn't get Helia and instead got a sex pest bear man thing.

Yeah, I agree, that the short races are not taken seriously. Which is unfortunate, since the godfather of fantasy, Tolkien, gave them so much room and even made them the means to save Middle Earth. But even the LotR movies didn't do them justice, the dwarves flat out became just comical relieves, the hobbits were not much better, they made Frodo the tragic hero, but made the others very goofy too and pushed the Aragorn/Arwen romance into the front and center (and in the Hobbit that unholy triangle between the dwarf, the elven maiden and Legolas - who shouldn't even be in that movie). I only want to have a bit more diversity in terms of companion races and more interesting stories. And as much as people love their tropes - bards aren't always horny (mine never are) and small races don't speak in squeaky voices and are funny. THough I must say, Larian didn't do a bad job with the Ironhand gnomes - Barcus was determiend and a very true friend and helped WUlbren until the end (a bit like Sam in LotR) and WUlbren turned out to be a formidable antagonist, who might come back in a later game to bite us. None of the Ironhand gnomes are portraits as comic reliefs or jokes imo - same with the dwarven sisters in Raphaels clutch; Korilla and Hope were both great characters, who could have used a bit more screentime, but weren't funny sidekicks at all. So they can write small race characters and I'm sure, they would hav done a terrific job with Heilia.

.... I just want to point out the odd milestone that is someone getting suspected of being a halfling in disguise for their campaigning for the fair treatment of small-sized races.... and it wasn't me...? Clearly I've been absent too long...
Pardon my thirst but the lady Ironhand gnomes you rescued in the Underdark are fine as hell. This thread brought my attention to the lack of diversity in companions for sure.

Thing is Dwarves are always more serious compared to the other shorter races, They Drink, Smith cool weapons and are total badasses,
Gnomes are interesting because they have pointy ears, fey ancestry and have this whole thing of being inventors, they're like the Nikola Testlas of Faerun,
Goblins have this have this gremlin mode, they're like cats but with an extra bit of mean streak, they'll break your stuff, steal your gold, eat your food and then insult you about it afterwards, lets say they have an attitude,
while Halflings on the other hand are based off of a race of lazy gluttons with hairy feet, the D&D version is better but not by much, if you hit a halfling then their god will take revenge by deaging you, like what GT did with Goku.

I tried to be a worthy halfling fan in your absense .

Meanwhile Sam, the hobbit, was the bravest character in the whole LotR story. I don't think, that Tolkiens hobbits are lazy gluttons, they are just normally that adventurous, but they do well, when they go out adventuring.
I didn't get your last reference, since I'm no tfamiliar with whatever fandom that is, sorry.
My point was, that generally small races are often used as funny characters, while Larian brought in the Ironhand gnomes and made them complex personalities. Or the dwarven sisters Korilla and Hope, so they can make well written characters from the small races and I would have confidence, that they had made Helia awesome.

I'm sure they'll do a great job with Her, everything was planned out, they at least had a proper direction that they wanted to do with her unlike the inconsistent bear sex creep who is a walking joke, like Halsin no means no, take a hint and have your L.
Helia could be a cool companion, not only was Helia a werewolf Halfing Bard, by going by Astarion's cut lines, he meantions her as Saucy, meaning this characters had a lot of sass and sarcasm to them, Larian knew which direction they wanted to take with this character, they had a plan and chose not to follow through with it, oh well maybe Helia can be salvaged up as DLC or as a patched in Companion.

Or maybe they swap out the failed druid experiment with her, according to the two biggest threads here, this would be the best course of action maybe. No seriously, I think, she would have made an awesome addition to the circle of companions.

They would really have to outdo themselves to write her in a way that pisses people off more than the druid does.

I am not sure if it would be possible even.
From the few voicelines, that were datamined, she already sounded awesome tbh.

Connected to Helia', but not just: it would also be nice, if Larian would take a look at Niaras halfling thread and make a few changes. The halflings are better in the full game than in EA, but still far from good. Which is a shame, since I do like the faces a lot.

I found Chubblots video about Helias probably voicelines, though some of the lines could be narration and some are voicelines, that are used for pc too - so it looks, as if she was indeed supposed an origin character - and someone mentioned, that the origins were supposed to narrate their own adventures. I love the voice tbh.

The depth and personality behind this character sounds awesome. Instead we got some redundant druid who makes me uncomfortable and is shit at their job and fullfilling their role in the story (apart from their role in rescuing Grubs the cat, but they only accomplish that through being shit at everything else).

Right? She sounds so awesome and I like the voice acting a lot.
