Question as I think this is a spoiler free area? So in the game you will stumble across journals has anyone done any research or theories on these?

So far I’ve stumbled upon a bunch of these in act 1 alone and is there a site that goes into more detail. Former Skyrim player and in Skyrim when you came across a letter etc there were real world people that discussed these and your got a better understanding of say how they died or what they were trying to do

Can you mention one you are interested in? I know that the journal in the harpy's nest is an easter egg for the Tomb of Horrors novel . . .

There are over 600+ unique journals, letters, books and notes that I have counted so far through all three Acts. Act 1 has quite a number, was there a specific person, story or thread you were interested in?

No site I know of that explores them all, yet.

Oh that. Yeah, non-drow lady courts the favor of Lolth and transforms herself into a Phase Spider Matriarch. She appears to have been favored by Lolth. If you read all the books there are inspiration points to be had. I don't think there was much more to it, there are allusions that she was trying to show up the drow priestesses who rejected her.

Thanks. I wondered if she became the spider

Of note, she wasn't just a non-drow, but actually a surface elf, which made the favor of Lolth especially odd. To my knowledge, it's rare, but we've seen non-drow favored by Lolth before. Specifically, Lareth the Beautiful from the Temple of Elemental Evil. But I don't recall ever having seen a surface elf in that position.

That’s a first in lore for a phase spider? How about the 1 at the top of harpy nest?

Elder scroll lore books and journals is what taught me to read everything i can find, but what we have here in BG3 isn’t that good. Except some tidbits about the bhaalspawn, candlekeep etc., I found most of them boring and now i skip them on my 2nd playthrough. What i also always enjoyed is reading item descriptions in old infinity engine RPGs, but they’re boring to here as well.

You won’t lose much if you skip it

Really? I thought the books were one of the better parts of the game. I wish they were longer . . .
