Considering this is an accessibility post I'm requesting this first. That this post be locked to the front page of the suggestions area, so others can add to the accessibility request if needed.

Things I am requesting About BG3 To be added so I can get past the second room of the tutorial.

Before I do my requests about my gameplay, please watch this video. The Blind Gamer tends to highlight quite a bit about games concerning accessibility.

I am playing on My PS5.

1. Please add an indicator on the side of dialogue so I can see the choice that I'm making. I had someone else look at the screen and they were able to tell the choices but I wasn't. I have to count the choices just to tell.

2. Please allow us to change the size of the tool tip. And, please put it in the middle instead of the top left.

3. Could we get a menu for reactions as they occur? I have to hit a button, just to do the reaction and because I can't adjust the size of the tolol tip I have no idea what button that is.

4. Please add a screen reader.

5. I get perception checks are a thing. But please allow us to press the button and then have the icons stay. We are still conducting the perception check by pressing the button.

For 1, I think you can plug a keyboard in and use the number keys to select the option you want. I'm not sure if BG3 has keyboard support for PS5 but the number keys are how I select dialog on PC at least.

For 5, my vision is 20/20 with correction and even I have difficulty figuring out what my perception roll is trying to show me sometimes. I can't imagine how bad it is for someone with vision issues.

That's a cool video!

Here are a few threads from earlier in EA that had some suggestions for visual accessibility

https://forums.larian.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=879939

https://forums.larian.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=738578

https://forums.larian.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=874900

I'm sure there were more feedback discussions in theads on other subjects, but probably harder to search down. One thing I mentioned in the Heads thread I made, in addition to color hue/vibrancy they can use color value or things like pattern to help players increase visual constast and make it easier to see certain stuff within the UI.

Another good search might be for Font scaling requests during EA, since I recall a few with other ideas in those.

I also think threads about the camera for stuff like pitch and rotation, padmapping of controllers or keyboard hotkeys, WASD etc. These are also accesibility issues, which might join the others in a megathread on the subject.

Hopefully they can keep working on it so more players with accessibility issues can enjoy the game.

Ps. I agree that this merits a stickie because then its much easier for people to find and to discuss their experiences with other players, to kick up suggestions that might help Larian make improvements. Focused feeback on Spells from EA might be moved to the megathread section, and this one put up top here in the feedback and suggestions section? Though we're not really hurting from an overabundance of stickies, it probably would make sense to have stickies for the Full release game now, rather than EA stuff. Depending on how long they've been up.

From the videos I'm watching there is no keyboard connection for the console ( I cannot test the Xbox). But that doesn't mean it wasn't changed and I need to personally test that. But while I can test that because I have multiple keyboards not everyone does and not everyone keeps their console next to the computer. Also, including an arrow next to a dialog choice doesn't just affect disabled players like myself. It can affect able players as well, so there should be one.

A thought I just had. If there is a color aura around dialog choices, that I'm just not seeing, Larian could make a slider for deepening the color contrast for choices.

While it may take some time for your requests to be implemented, I imagine Larian has an interest in accommodating accessibility and accessibility-related needs.

However, do note that I am not a Larian employee and am only a forum moderator, so I do not really know. My main information is that accessibility is a non-controversial suggestion that, when implemented, is a win for all involved. Further, I think a non-zero number of Larian employees do look at this forum at some point during a given week. If you did not get accessibility accommodations after the recent patch, I would suggest continuing to update the post after future patches to keep this conversation relevant.

There are keyboards made for ps5 and Xbox... they are not main stream so expect to pay more

As for remaking the game design for anyone on ps5 with issues... well sure it's possible but I don't see Sony investing and Larian certainly isn't doing it on their own

Sony has been investing in accessibility recently. This came out two months ago:

Not sure what non-zero means. Also I noted what post you quoted. And I just wanted to say that I was just saying thank you. I usually do I just forgot.

I'm confused to what you meant, Also, most of the issues I had would be resolved with a screen reader For the game.

More options for more people to play = always good.

Make it happen Larian.

My girlfriend and I both play On PC, but we have them hooked up to 55" Tv's(only making the text size issue even worse). we play with keyboard and mouse.
We love the game but the UI and Tool text are so unbelievably small. this makes playing the game very tiring as we have to strain our eyes just to read some of the text displayed.
because of this we have shelved the game for now because it's excessively tough to read.

I really hope they address this issue quickly because many people are having a problem with this.
just googling "Balders gate 3 UI Size" will bring up many talking about how bad it is for PC gamers to read.
i understand that you can attach a controller to make it bigger.

Any help with this would be amazing Larian.

It is extremely difficult for me to use my keyboard but I have a 50 inch TV on it. The dialogue size isn't too much of an issue on my PlayStation but trying to tell what I'm saying is more of to the issue at the moment. But when it comes to things I can't read. It's mostly the books and scrolls. Not enough contrast and the pages are way to bright.

Oh and When I'm in a Dungeon I have to put the brightness at 100 but the Moment I leave I have to set it back down to 20. That sun is no joke.

Larian, did you do do any accessability fixes with this recent update, or was it just availablity?

Changes being slow to come doesn’t mean they won’t come at all. Though it’s unclear which feedback approach is likeliest to cause Larian to act, I reckon polite persistance is the best way to go.

In that spirit: Bump, please and thank you.

Not to be rude, but I'm patientce for this game, went out the window. We have games like The Last of Us 2, which IMO has the greatest options, Marvels Spider-Man 1 and 2, Miles Morales, Hogwarts Legacy, and Diablo 4 to name a few.

This game has been available to the public for years. It was officially released about a month ago. Minor accessability. And all they had to do to fix 90% of the issues was Install a screen reader. Or what happened to making a sticky for this post so others Can post their Accessability issues?

I can understand your frustration but this is not something that will see a quick fix, especially when you want it on console. Not only do the devs have the add the features to the existing game system, with consoles they then need to go through "validation" with Sony before any update can be released, this is a fairly large hurdle when added a more complex new feature. Sony is notorious for making these types of updates almost painful for devs.

I am older, with diabetes and not the best eye sight. My personal solution for a lot of my gaming issues was moving to way oversized displays. A lot of people I know talk about PPI, but I find the oversized display makes everything much easier for me to see. This might not help with your specific needs but it did help for me.

I get you are trying to calm the situation, but my requests are not just for console. I even posted a video about PC. Access ability affects everyone. If a screen reader is such a big change, where is the dialogue arrow next to your choices? Or an option to fix the contrast on items, so you can read them?

I am already playing on a big TV. I am not about to buy a projextor just to play this game. Also, I'm aware that the fixes are not going to come yesterday. I would just like larian to acknowledge the post.

I would like to see the changes as soon as possible because my condition is going to make me go the way of the dodo soon. If life doesn't do it first. I am trying to absorb as many stories as I can before then.
