I've followed Larian for years, played in EA, watched their Panel's from Hell, etc.
Knowing Larian and how much Swen, the actors, writers, and everyone involved genuinely cares and love their game, and all the things they've taken into consideration and changed ( because we asked them to ) over the years - I would be very surprised if they didn't change things and give us a better ending that so many of us have so desperately been asking for. Hells, I'd even be surprised if they didn't add extra content for us in a Definite Edition.
They've already clarified in their patch notes that they're planning on expanding and fleshing out the epilog, we just can't expect them to be done with it within a couple of months, it takes time.
Besides, they've earned their rest.
Again, this is very much in tune to what they did with DOS as well.
Not everyone is optimistic but if you've followed Larian for some time, their continuous effort should be a testament to their genuinity.
I, for one, have hope.
