Larian Studios Forums Baldur's Gate III Baldur's Gate III - Technical & Gameplay Problems Quest Bug: "Investigate the Beach" won't complete

Minor issue, nothing game-breaking, but in a playthrough where I've already met Mol before saving Mirkon from the harpies, there's a Quest objective for "Investigate the Beach", telling me to "Find Mol" - "We know where Mol is hiding. Time to pay her a visit."

But I've already met Mol, already gotten my stolen goods back from her, and going and talking to her again doesn't do anything to complete the quest.

Not sure it will help, but does talking to Mirkon again in Mol’s hideout move things along?

did you infact "investigate the beach"?
did you explore all the ledges around the harpies and collect the books/ items/ loot from the nest?

Tried talking to Mirkon again (and then to Mol again). Didn't advance anything. Yes, I investigated the full beach, including getting everything from the nest.

how did you encounter Mol before doing the harpies i.e, what steps in what order?

Yep, sounds as though there may be a bug here with quest order. I’ll look out for it myself in future.

(1) I'd helped the kid who stole the locket.
(2) I got pickpocketed.
(3) As a Dwarf, I was able to chase the pickpocket into the hideout.

Because of step 1, Mol was willing to give me back my stolen inventory, but there wasn't any further acknowledgement after I helped the other two kids. Which isn't a big deal, but it leaves the remaining open quest.

I have lots of bugs in this and most guests related to kids. I didn’t do things in order but stumbled upon them randomly:

- I discovered the hideout of the kids randomly and took everything, before any quest

- The quest related to the locket, I didn’t like what happened while talking in the cutscene so I loaded an earlier save but later when I walked close to them, they already talked and the man and kid walked away. I already know the hideout, so returned there and got the locket. The man doesn’t want to take it and finish the quest, keeps saying he is not in mood.

- I stumbled upon the beach randomly and got into the fight, but after that the kid there just standing and can’t talk to him and finish the guest

- The kid Mol standing next the training spot and I’m not able to talk to her, the pointer doesn’t show me “talk” unlike others

- The kid who sells stuff doesn’t respond to “talk” all the time. Only was able to talk to him twice when I tried maybe 20 times

So these quests are so buggy, as the game showing me to finish “investigate the beach” and “return the locket” but the people there don’t respond

The problem is if you piss off Mol it breaks all quests going forward.

I let the kid get slapped THEN met Mol and they were pissed, then that lead to them telling the guards I was harassing the kids, talked my way out with the guards, but now Mol only says "I'm done with you. You better hope we never talk again" and I can't turn anything else in.

Also my quest for Investigate the Beach says:

FIND MOL.
- Doni disappeared somewhere. Well need to find another way to get Mol - or maybe Doni will be back eventually.

Well... Doni is in front of the entrance, so he is not missing, I can go talk to Mol in the hideout too lol.. SO WTF.
