Larian Studios Forums Baldur's Gate III Baldur's Gate III - Technical & Gameplay Problems I can't move or do anything!

I've just purchased the game, no mods to worry about. Created my character after watching the cutscene and then tried to move, but I can't. I reloaded the game, still the same. So I started a new character. Same story with him too. I pressed quick rest and it told me my character is in conversation so I wondered if tapping 1 (my keybind for select player 1) would help, but no luck there. I tried changing to Vulkan API after seeing some people talk about weird glitches on DX11. I've tried verifying my files. I've tried reinstalling again. I've tried praying to Amadia but apparently, I got my universes mixed up and somehow managed to piss off Umberlee.

Edit: Okay, after noticing the origins.txt file was missing (well, more accurately the whole folder the txt file was supposed to be in wasn't there) I decided to uninstall and install a 3rd time. I did download this to another drive, which is significantly slower, but I'll look to transferring it over to my SSD. I can finally play BG3!

Sorry to hear you’ve run straight into a problem.

If you let us know what platform you’re playing on, and what character you’re creating, ie custom, dark urge or one of the origins, that might start then it might help focus thinking about what’s gone wrong. A couple of things that did help with a couple of issues with getting stuck in early access were pressing space bar or 1 a number of times (can help move the conversation along, though sounds like you’ve tried that) or saving and reloading.

Oh, and if you haven’t already, it might be worth sending your savegame to Larian with a bug report asap (the Report a Bug link on the launcher will take you to the right place). They seem to have quite a backlog at the moment, so the sooner you report a problem the better.

I Run into this Problem a Few Times already since 3.0
(most Notoriusly when finish the Gountlet.. if i Save the Nightsong route)
when the game its Supposed to Start a Scene Evrything just Freeze ? if so..
Just Turn off auto Save and the Cloud on Steam whas what couses the Freeze in my games..
(this is the Couse of Extremely long Loadings for some people too. i already saw a bunch of reports here about this.)
after that never run into this Problem again..
(the only bad side its that i have to always remember to Save after some important part becouse of Bugs.. just to have a Safe spot if some shit went wrong during playtime.)

I'm on PC with custom character. I just tried disabling auto and Steam saves but still no joy. Here's a video if it'll help. I submitted a report a few days ago. I feel like refunding the game because I've "played" the game for 3 hours now trying tonnes of "fixes". I completed Portal in 5 hours! However, I also just tried creating an origins character, but they're all missing!

I found this thread which says to delete the origins.txt file. But there's no Public folder!

Watching the video, you are also missing an icon of your character on the left side of the screen. (When the party forms, icons of other characters are stacked here and you use this to group/ungroup or select a character, manage inventory etc....)
So , hopefully this also gives a clue to Larian suppoit what's wrong.. The game you have installed seems quite broken.
