I'm not computer savvy enough to trust myself with these guides but I also have noticed the game just break more and more as I play. Hotfix #9 seems to have broke my game completely, I have no mods installed either. I really hope Larian can put out a Hotfix #10 or something soon because it's a bit frustrating.

yeah same thing here.... every "hotfix" seems to make things worse and less playable and way more crashes.

It's because they don't do end to end regression testing. The regression testing performed by Larian QAs is limited to adjacent code impacts only. (Meaning that they won't go check on something all the way in Act 3 if they make a change in Act 1) or to the menu interface or the magic mirror etc. I'd contend regression tests for a game of this density and scope would be incredibly difficult to accomplish, which is why changes should be rolled out very very slowly. I think the community would prefer the absence of QOL features if it meant the game and quests functioned properly, for example.

Im Getting this Bug a LOt especially in act 2 and 3 since 3.0 came out..
Thaniel and Jaheira is the Most Agregious with this bug in my games..
so i just stop trying to save the boy and Jaheira i just had to Ignore the bug to get minsc but its gettin pretty anoying..
and this happens with some other companions in some especificis parts of the game too. will not say more becouse of Spoilers.

I can confirm, it hasn't gotten any better in Act II. This is getting really frustrating, Larian's last patch broke my game. I hope they release a new update soon.

I have had the same issues as others have pointed out. They have completely broken Astarion’s romance in some ways. His approval doesn’t trigger appropriately on responses like it did, his camp interactions are FUBAR, it completely skips over one where you talk about him keeping watch and last night I saw him creeping off but there was no other scene? It was weird. The bad part is his very broken approval mechanics make the romance progression tedious and I was working on a play-through focusing on it.

I did report the Astarion issues as a bug and it is a stopper because his scenes at camp have disappeared completely (not to mention his broken approval mechanic). I hope they figure it out… Something tells me with it being so niche they probably don’t see it as important I don’t know… I may attempt to roll my version back but I use GOG.

This is Happening a Lot Since 3.0 came out.
in my Games in act 2 almost all quests NPC this Happens
the more i keep looking into this game i find more and more bugs.. already reported all that i found to then. but only get 1 response so far about this from then.
and it was just like any other response.
(we already aware of the bug and the dev team is working on then.. and this has already maybe 20 days since and no fix.)

Interesting. For me all companion scenes play as they should, including Astarion's. Only the one with his scars is wonky. Approvals are fine too.

Other dialogue scenes keep freaking out though. The tieflings next to Lae'zel's cage, auntie Ethel, Abdirak, all of them either speak to me with their backs turned or twist and turn in ways a human body shouldn't be able to. Barcus was kinda clipping into my character, guess he was really grateful for being saved.

Many NPC have this Issue too.. i bet the more yu look more yu will find those weird bugs..xD
(there are a Bunch of Shining Eyes Too as Bug just like they were casting Speak with Undead.. there eyes turn Green mid conversation, many NPCS in act 2 has this problem..)

Am I the only one seeing the Shadowheart river cutscene like completely trashed and wonky since patch 3?

I get it Too but was in my Old Saves from before the last Hotfix..
since the Hotfix 9 came out i actually wipe out the game 3 times and then.. after the third time things got a little bit better. but
i still have some weird angles in some NPC scenes like Barcus all of then are broke for me.. only in act 3 go ok and in camp.
and most of broken animations and the crazy Eyes went green like speak with undead mid conversation with areabela outside of the Gate in Act 2 and the Dude with the Crown too.. if i speak too much with him same stuff.
i now just give him the book and kill him becouse of that.haha
Broken animation on conversation have a Bunch most of then in Act 2 with Thaniel especially if yu went there without Halsin to do the Quest alone and get the ring playing with hin, some in Act 3 too with Jaheira.
(i Just Start to Avoid or get rid of all Broken ones.. just to try keep enjoying the game..haha)

Yeah, I’m not sure what’s going on but if you have started a fresh game since the last hotfix they did you will notice some of these scenes don’t play out at all. I’m missing several videos from Astarion at camp and along with that several approval choices that no longer give it including accepting his apology. This is all just Act 1 stuff because I just started a new play through. Hopefully they fix some of these things were not broken because on release they played out as they should have - talk about making someone question their sanity lol. For most people, this stuff probably doesn’t matter, but for somebody who plays for the story, it’s been brutal.

I have a fresh install after last hotfix. All cutscenes are still here. I don't pay much attention to approvals, but the ones I remember are fine. Maybe a reinstall would help in your case?

Oh, trust me I’ve reinstalled and I have tried it on two different systems. The approvals are pretty huge just when you consider normally you would have a few points in it by the time you get to the first long rest and I’m currently sitting at zero, like I said, it wouldn’t be as bad, except for I’ve played through before, so I know that they existed. Oh well, what can you do.

Interesting! Yes, I think I have noticed a couple of times in act one when Shadowheart previously approved of something (in an earlier playthrough), but now it doesn’t show. Like specifically, when I said to Halsin that I would take the path through the Underdark, she used to approve, but now it doesn’t get flagged as that. Pretty weird! I can imagine it would be really frustrating if you’re trying to romance Astarion, because my god, that guy disapproves of pretty much everything I do! It would suck if some approvals were missing.
