Larian Studios Forums Baldur's Gate III Baldur's Gate III - Technical & Gameplay Problems Patch 4, 94 GB?

Steam user here. I've read that others get Patch 4 at 11 GB, others, on the other hand, at 58 GB. Mine's 93.9 GB, what the...?! I've also read in BG3 reddit The Update Size that the game retains the old Update PAK files which bloats the game files beyond the 120 GB requirement. And the thread says that if you try to delete them, Steam just downloads them again. Maybe this is what's happening to me, though I didn't delete any of those PAK files, never touched 'em really, because while I was updating, my PC suddenly freed like 30 GB of data. Could be those Update PAK files and now it's downloading them all over again. 94 GB is 78% of 120 GB, I'm like practically downloading the entire game again.

Do you actually see those PAK files after installing patch4? I used to see them in the data folder prior to patch 4 but they are gone now. The reddit link you referenced is from a month ago so it appears that this is fixed with patch 4. I wonder if this in turn caused the overall patch size to balloon? It was in the 50GB range for me (GOG).

Download done. Checked those PAKs as well and, yes, they are gone. It seems Patch 4 removed them. Verifying Integrity of Files as we speak. Will update if I encounter bugs.
