Things that will push this game into my favorite of all time that I earnestly hope they implement:
1. Act 3 overhaul:
• more companions reactions.
• less abrupt endings to companion storylines.
• more romantic moments especially after your romances companion quest has been finished.
• more side missions that directly affect your companions.
• less fetch quests or innocuous quests that don't affect the story whatsoever.
• improved battle encounters with old/new foes (
auntie Ethel, Sarevok, the mother superior, Gortash, Orin)
meaning add some spice to them and make them all unique, make it feel like we're fighting a formidable foe.
• improved performance in general. Some fixes have already improved on this but my game still loves to drop frames when entering Lower City.
• more complete endings to companion storylines. Astarion's quest was great but Shadowheart's was half-baked and Gale's went absolutely nowhere.
2. Expanded/Fleshed Out Endings (spoilers):
This isn't a game where your companions don't matter, we want to know what comes next for them. We don't want their ending to be abrupt, silly, or insulting and unfortunately, that's what it is. So:
• fix Astarion's Spawn ending. No out-of-touch comment about "how funny it is" he's banished to the shadows forever. He redeemed himself and deserves better.
• Astarion isn't the only one with an insulting or abrupt ending but I'd be listing for days so just know as a rule of thumb: nobody likes and ending for a character that is 2 sentences and ends with us having no say as to what's happening. We want several minutes with every companion.
• make it so other companions are there in the end and THEY ALL have something to say.
• a final party sequence seems necessary. Hanging out with everyone a final time and getting more romantic time with your lover would really make it all feel like our ending got closure.
• more moments with others where we discuss what's next for them or their feelings on the journey.
• an end sideshow where it explains how our choices impacted other characters and what they are going to do as a result. Not just companions, important NPC's as well.
These are not all of the things I hope they improve on but, if they do these things, this could be the best game I've ever played. I love it already, but these keep the game from being truly great.
