I've been playing around with ways to make a "gishy" 4E monk that doesn't just spam FotFS. To that end, I wanted to pump WIS over DEX/STR, since that's the casting stat. Then I figured I'd take a level of Nature Cleric (Druid should work too) in order to pick up Shillelagh, letting me use WIS as my attack stat, at least for the main-hand staff. Unfortunately, I discovered that this does not work. With only the Nature cleric level, Shillelagh works as it should and I get my (higher) WIS bonus to attack/damage. But as soon as I take a monk level, *poof*, the bonus goes away and reverts to my (lower) DEX value. This seems like a bug, though admittedly probably not a high-priority one.

On the plus side, it seems that you do get the BA unarmed attack after FotFS even if you are using a shield. This also seems buggish, so I guess they cut both ways .

Have you tried picking the classes in a different order?
I don't know if the helps, but I've noticed that for example when using spells granted by items while multiclassing, the dc depends on the order in which you picked the classes.

Yeah, a lot of things like that care about what the last class taken is.

On the plus side, this means you can work around it by respec'ing with each level, taking nature cleric as the last level.

Unfortunately in this case order does not matter. Tried it with Druid as well and got the same result (not that I was expecting anything different, but...).

FWIW, I logged a bug on this and got a "yep, it's a bug, we're working on it" reply (which I took as a positive).
