Is there really no way to keep him alive for the ending? I want so badly to evil buddies with him and rule together or something. Or romance him even.
He's too charismatic, I want more cryicon
Game is so lovely, but I crave more evilness! Also Bane is a pretty cool deity so.

I don't get how some people are horny for the Raccoon looking homeless man we call Gortash, guy has mustard colored teeth and looks like he hasn't bathe in years, He probably smells like your average MTG player too, He's cool and all, but I don't think he's romance material, let alone marriage material.

All Hail Lord Archduke Gortash, the Trash Panda Man...

I mean people are horny for the spider guy rolleyes- are you really surprised here?
As for how Gortash looks: I'm actually glad, they didn't make him a pretty boy-
between nursing a depressed general and trying to keep that psycho Orin from ruining the plan even further ( after having usurped the first Chosen of Bhaal)
, he probably doesn't have much time to groom or sleep and he exactly looks that way, which makes sense imo.

I would love to be able to keep him alive just to have him standing there in the ending like "well shit".

The Brain did him a favor,
I imagine he just stands there and watches in horror as Durge just strips away his free will in Bhaal's name, congrats Gortash, you're now Bhaalist, suck on that Bane, your chosen ditched you for the best member of the Dead Three.

He fucked up Karlach's life, this is enough to put him on the very bottom of my trash-tier list.

Not only that, he's ridiculous as a 'villain'.
Orin and Ketheric were more believable and scarier than him.

Don't remind me of the spider dude, i've long stopped questioning people's 'tastes', lmao.
You'd think an 'archduke' and a politician would look well groomed looks wise but he looks like a plain dude that found a nice suit on the road and wore it. He looks hideous. Ketheric on the other hand... could make a lot more sense to be a well groomed politician from Baldur's Gate, but alas. I wish he was the last one to confront.

Edit: spoilers just in case.

Spider Guy is a Drider (short for Drow Spider, they are Drow who are cursed into this form by Lolth as punishment, these Drow Spider Centaurs are made serial and are given Amnesia before getting sent on their way), the Larian version is more attractive than the usual ones, according to D&D lore MALE DRIDERS have Spider Mandibles on their faces, while FEMALE DRIDERS don't have that facial feature.

I know about Drider, I just like to call him spider dude (DnD nerd for 20 years here ;)). I have severe arachnophobia and tbh Kar'niss triggers that more than the spider matriarch - he just moves too spidery and I really won't kink shaming or anything, but whenever someone says, they want to romance him, my arachnophobic self just screams inwards 'Are you out of your friggin' mind??'

I mean, as I said, Gortash has a lot on his plate - that he looks like that makes perfect sense.

Sure, that's a way to look at it but as an
archduke,
he could at least afford to have some time for himself (literally only a matter of minutes) and look approachable for the people. To 'charm' them, so to speak.

It's hilarious how all these nobles in Wyrm's crossing look at him and say 'savior of Baldur's Gate'. And they aren't even tadpoled (are they? Never paid much attention since the whole cutscene is a snoozefest for me)

Not like it'd change my opinion on him either way,
he's always the first to die when I get the chance. Orin is much more enjoyable as a villain and I like to keep her for last.

I don't think I would romance him but I certainly enjoyed the frenemies connection he can have with Tav. I wanted to see more of him!
The alliance with him should have been more long-lasting and meaningful. Would have been cool if he was a quest giver or even a companion (evil route doesn't have enough of them) and you had choices how to impact the city, for example helping out the Steel Watch, coming up with ideas for newspaper propaganda, sending Wyll to the Iron Throne as a prisoner so he can keep his father company, etc.

He did my Tav a favour. Karlach seems to be designed as a cannon fodder character and she even admits she'd pick tentacles over a poison. It was super easy, barely an inconvenience
to choose who would get to turn into a squid after helping Bae'zel free Orpheus.

Given the number the named nobles walking around Wrym’s keep, I get the sense there was some kind of political intrigue plot planned where you could either sabotage or bolster Gortash’s control over the upper city. Ruining his influence seems like a more fitting way to take him down, since (given you annihilated the steel watch) his actual boss fight felt the weakest of the dead three.

Yes! It certainly feels that way. Though it's possible it was related to cut content for Cazador instead. I heard they planned to make him a more prominent character and even a potential ally. He has this list of important people in his lair too.

I think some of the nobles are indeed
tadpoled. Plus Gortash has his Steelwatch - they see him as the one to bring back order, I'm not sure, if they care, how he looks. There is of course the other question, how sensible it is to give the guy with the big murder machines full control. Wylls father is the archduke btw, Gortash has another title

No, Wyll's dad is Grand Duke. Archduke is a special new title for Gortash.

Ok, then I stand corrected - no matter what, Gortash gets, what he deserves.

I especially am mad at him, when playing Durge, because
he tells me, we were close once - friends or lovers or whatever, and then he didn't do anything to help me, while complaining about Orin non stop. WHat a douche.

Guy doesn't even get a proper transformation,
I expected something cool Like Upgraded Steelwatch looking form, instead of Giant Gortash.

You know, even if I can keep him alive JUST to torture him, it'd be dope too smile
Better, even.

Btw, killed him without disabling robots on tactician, and you'd be surprised how easy it is still. Bane really doesn't care about his ~chosen~, sadge
