From what I've seen about the Halsin-Minthara-dialogue it seems like a new "neutral" version, so it might not change anything about the grove itself. Simply because Halsin does reference "Kaghas foolishness", and it seems to me like that means she went through with the rite. So it might be the grove itself is saved, but the tieflings are not. But we shall see, hopefully I am wrong - after all, the mod to recruit Minthara on a good run is very popular.
I'm looking forward to the hug option, however, it honestly felt odd that we never got that in the first place - especially not for Karlach, who had been talking about missing those all the time before being able to touch people. I'll definitely use that a lot.
There is still reason to hope for them to give us a better Karlach ending, especially with how much it has been requested. So far they've shown that they listen to the players.
