So what comes next? Forgive my ignorance, but does Larian possess some sort of licence or agreement with Wizards to continue making DnD-tagged games, or was BG3 a one off?

Me, playing through BG3 and enjoying all the freedom and gorgeous scenery, I can't help but dream of a modern version of the old "Unlimited Adventures" and "Neverwinter Nights" takes on a creative DnD platform, where players can make their own worlds and adventures. A platform where the DM has basically limitless tools too build entire worlds, including wilderness, cities and dungeons, and full on adventure campaigns. A platform that would allow straight offline playing the adventure as you do BG3 single player, co-op or - coolest of all, co-op with an active DM who can basically intervene and do all the stuff a tabletop DM would do - do NPC conversations, take control over AI units in combat or even - this is a long shot - grant effects to spells like Wish that are mostly beyond the scope of any computer game...

Anyway the technology for this kinda thing is definitely here, I just wonder how long until we see anyone do it. If ever...
