The quest of Act 1, "Investigate the Beach," cannot be completed as I'm directed to Mol from the Journal note "Doni disappeared somewhere. Well need to find another way to get Mol - or maybe Doni will be back eventually."

Mol only replies, "You did this to yourself." No guards will interact in accordance with Mol's threat. Doni does not further the quest. The beach has been completely investigated.

Version 4.1.1.39

I've tried throwing Mol based on a suggestion I found. No luck. I've explored the beach again. No luck. I talked to some guards, and they won't arrest or force a check.

Any workarounds?

Wow, that is so weird. I played it just the other day and it ran as normal. Bad luck. Honestly, you might just want to go back to an earlier save and play through it again to see if that fixes it. Like play through it from the beginning when you go down to the beach, kill the harpies, and save Mirkon.

Unfortunately, I got bored of trying to figure it out and adventured around for another six hours. I'd hate to lose all that progress.

There is a second entry into Mol's hideout. When you pass the little tiefling scammers and continue instead of turning to the inner sanctum, I believe you come onto a cliff and there's a hole in the rock somewhere. But it's too small for human/elf, so in order to enter that way you need a dwarf/halfling or reduce yourself to pass through.

I've given it a good think, and I believe the issue is either that I accidentally found the Tiefling's hideout without giving the code word to one of them, which might have bugged it-- or, and far more likely, it's because I told Mol something that upset her or I admitted to trying to grab the kid who stole from me (she actually says, "Please don't shake me again!").

I wonder if any of that an be worked around? Some people cast hold person on Mirkon to be able to talk to Mirkon, but I've already talked to Mol, so I think I'm passed that being the bug. I tried to throw them all to reset them, but it doesn't do anything beyond -20 attitude towards the throwing character.

I did use that other pathway with a Disguise Self'ed Shadowheart, and it doesn't change anything. Thanks, though.

Wait, you were mean to the kids? That might be why Mol was annoyed and you couldn’t complete it.

+1, I'm having the same issue.

Wasn't able to find the hideout (failed the Investigation check) so, knowing that if I help the kid tiefling at the beach that I'd get access that way, I pressed on.

Helped the kid at the beach, got the "Investigate The Beach: Find Mol" objective when the kid told me to give the passphrase to enter the hideout.

Went to the entrance, gave them the passphrase, Mol thanked us and rewarded us and then gave me the new quest to steal the idol.

But the "Investigate The Beach" quest wouldn't go away or complete. Talked to Mol about 4 more times to see if I could get it to complete and it wouldn't work. Figured it might go away if I steal the idol for some reason and complete that quest instead?

So I stole the idol, gave it to Mol, she rewarded me and...nothing. The stupid "Find Mol" objective was still there. It still is.

I wish I could just abandon the quest. I hate seeing the icon of Mol's location!
