Inmortal and everyoung elves are mostly a LOTR thing. In D&D elves never have been neither inmortal or inmune to aged (you can take a look to the forgotten realms wiki https://forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki/High_elf). They aged slowly (they are considered adults around 100 years old) and less than humans and live several centuries, of course.

Half elves like Jaheira are the same but with reduced timers (still way more than humans). For example: Shadowheart in game is "only" around 50 years old, because she is a half elf. If she was a true elf, she will be basicallly a kid/teeneger in game at this young age.

The life spam of a Elf and a Half elf its way bigger than the Human..
Like Shadowheart she looks that way but if im not mistaken she is 40 already..
(she says this when yu find the Book in Sharran stuff in act 3.. she coments when yu get the book about her.)
its becouse of this that they start to look old when they reach hundreds yeas and stuff like that..
for elf i beleave its more.. for then to look old.
(just to put in perspective.. if your tav is a Human and yu do end up with Shadow.. yu will die before her.. haha)
i beleave its the same for the other Romanced races in the game like Laezel, astarion..
(i actually beleave its pretty fair for Jaheira still be alive becouse the way she looks.. and if yu noticed she is really damaged when in camp clothes. her hands specially)
looks like she went tru some Hard stuff between games and managed to keep alive.. badass.
Something that i dont know if yu guys find about her its in her house.. maybe it was cut content.. but she has a Ritual to actually become younger/imortal.. bring minsc when yu visit her hide sanctuary and yu will find easy the secret door to get the sword and this scroll im talking about.. the game dosent gave yu a option to convince her to do the thing.. but she even talks about it..what that thing is supposed to do with her. i just forgot the name..

another thing.. Shadow Father is Full elf.. and look at him.. the dude dosent look like young get it ?
or is he Half elf too ?

You make a good point there. I dunno why I thought elves to be immortal, I guess LoTR despite it being unrelated to D&D. Silly me.

That almost sounds like an easter egg, I'm gonna have to double back and check that out for myself. Thanks for the tip.

But never forget to Bring Minsc Make things easy and yu will not have to pass in any check..
he will convince her for yu get it ?!
then yu will walk in easy in the secret room

he gave some unique interecations with her sons too.. pretty Neat i advice to never go there without hin.. yu will thank me later for this i bet.

Another Great Tip of then.
If yu want to Smash the Floor with sarevok and have the most Badass line in the Game just F. Bring then to the Fight.. yu will enjoy a Lot there coments. Trust Me its Worth a LOT. if yu love then from the other games yu will almost cry. and yu will feel like a True Hero for it. yeah i have some personal reason to hate hin a lot..haha

I currently have an evil bhaalspawn drow necro playthrough going. I'm gonna have to do it with with my good character but is still in act 1 atm. But sounds interesting none the less. I can still do Jaheira's house at the least with my evil character but I still have to get Minsc. My only issue is mine is a patch 3 save and it glitched a lot of things and made my save unstable, so I've been playing my other character lately with a patch 4 save.

FR elves, as of 5E, do not show signs of age other than getting weird cataracts over their eyes (though I'm not sure if drow do, since they don't have a connection to the elven afterlife). So yeah, Viconia shouldn't look like that if we go strictly by FR lore (which BG3 obviously does not because there are a lot of lore errors).

I would have loved to see Imoen again; seems like there's some way she could still be around (and she, or someone with her name at least, had a small cameo in the Shadows of Athkatla tabletop session the voice actors did. Even though that plot just milked BG2 for all it was worth without the substance, but at least they had fun).

I also trust Larian to do the good-aligned characters better than the evil-aligned ones. I know I care about the original games too much, but it legitimately depresses me that
Viconia is now known as a child torturer and Sarevok as an incestuous Bhaal puppet
by most players. I can't bring myself to even get to them in the game, so I guess I might never finish BG3 just because of how 2 cameo characters were handled. I really loved the game before I found that out, too.

As for Durge, I'm glad they aren't Charname because I've known what my Charname did after Throne of Bhaal for over a decade now (hello actual epilogue slides), and where she is now. I'm not changing my headcanon just because WotC wants to keep riding the coattails of a story that was made for love and not quick profit, which is why it was actually good.

Edit: I'm not suggesting BG3 was made without love, just that WotC is more interested in profit than quality these days.

i Understand yu Bro.. THey actually Retcon a Lot more in this Game then yu imagine..
Like the Crown from the elder Brain..
That shit was Retcon REALLLY HARD>>
(i hate it actually becouse dimished the True Prowes and Power of Karsus..)
The One and Only True archwizard that ever Lived.

The True Tale.
In the True Tale of Karsus.. he did not make a Shity artifact get it ?!
he Made the First One and Only 12 lvl Spell (Karsus AVATAR)
the spell to Steal the Power of God and Karsus did not Die ok.
he became a Patreon for Warlocks just forgot the Name.. and some of the Netherill Citys are even out there Floating in other Planes. so Netherill never Trully ended.
and just a Fact.. Karsus Fail Becouse he Chose the Wrong God.. if he had Chosen another instead of Mystra he would have suceed.. becouse in the moment he became One with the Weave he realized that this was a Mistake not even He ho has just asceded to God would be able to learn to control that Shit.. that was His Hubris and his Mistake.. he was arrogant to Think he would control the Weave becouse he was the True Archwizard of all Time.
and just for yu to understand How Powerfull he really Was just Take a Look on What yu Need to Replicate the 12 lvl spell Karsus Avatar.. yu will Cry when yu see what is needed to make that shit. xD
just the recipe its a Slap in a Face.

I disagree about Aerie, compared to Jaheira, she was kind of forgettable and I'm glad, she wasn't made a companion again.
No, I think, it was the right decision to go with the two iconic companions from the first two games. Even though, I'm not a big Minsc fan, I recognise, he has a big fanbase.

I would say she had a lot of potential that wasn't fully realized (like she was never given a real chance to be shown standing up to abusers and slavers - it was tacked into her epilogue. And not enough made of her gnomish connections; like followers of Baervan are supposed to play pranks on their friends so she could have been grown into a more light hearted and whimsical character). But she was, if not chronologically, in every other way the youngest character in BG2 so it would be great to bring her back as still the same big hearted and determined core character, but grown in manu other ways. Despite that all the OG romances have their fans (to be honest I never really cared for Aerie's; I always thought she would have been better written as a little sister type while Imoen can't be around).

Ah, I just recognized your username and wanted to say I'm replaying BG2 with the Aerie expansion mod ("Wings") I think you helped work on? And completely loving it; I always wanted my lady Charname to be able to befriend Aerie, and now she can! She's written really well and it gives her so much more depth. smile (And if I have the wrong person, uh, just ignore me).

What's unfortunate about Aerie in BG2 is (mods aside), you don't really see the best part of her character development unless she romances Haer'Dalis and they break up at Spellhold, after she gets so angry at Irenicus for what he has done and commits herself to fighting evil. Most players obviously don't see that development (and I didn't for the longest time because I didn't care for the thought of Aerie and Haer'Dalis together). That attitude shift makes her new voiceset in ToB, and her epilogues, make a lot more sense.

As for Aerie in BG3, it would make perfect sense for her to still be around. She's an elf and, in most of her epilogues, she ends up fighting evil in some way.

Years ago I started on a few mods, but then I focused on being a professional writer so it was someone else who wanted to finish that one (I'm sorry to say I've not actually played it; I haven't properly played BG2 for a while and would probably cringe if I did see any of my own old writing still there). The most popular was probably Tenya (remember the 12-year-old priestess of Umberlee you meet in BG1? I made a mod where you could take the problem child under your wing instead of letting her go back to the temple. It was only a little thing but a lot of people seemed to like it. I had big plans to turn Baldur's Gate into a parenting simulator but never quite got around to it). Still, I'm glad you enjoyed.
