From what I understand, katanas were popular in classic BG and even Neverwinter and BG3 feels like a combination between the two games. So why are they so unpopular in a 200 year span, there should be more, not less.

A little off topic, Neverwinter was a four person team and had a Warlock class similar to BG3 and classic BG didn't have a Warlock. So easy connection there.

So I feel the game is lacking exotic weapons such as nodachis, katanas, wakasashis, and ninja-toes. I think katanas should be treated as a versatile weapon, like a rapier (but held like a long sword unless you have two weapon fighting), a weapon that handles with whatever profiency is highest, DEX or STR, that way everyone is happy and it makes sense.

It should also be treated as an exotic profiency, a lot like how it was in Neverwinter, as for classic BG it was in a class of its own. So in this regard yet again, it makes sense.

As for wakasashis and ninja-toes they were always treated like a short sword but would still be an exotic weapon with versatile handling. Lastly a nodachi would be considered an exotic great weapon and require strictly STR.

I only mention all this because it's all very possible to implement into the existing game, all it requires is modeling, texturing, weight painting, rigging, and scripting for magical variants and exotic profiency and some of the coding could be copy/pasted from the rapier, long sword, great sword, and short sword. Don't need any special animations, tho would be welcome.
