It would be nice if there were a mechanic which would warn the player that an action would break the oath.

"He that can smile at death, as we know him. Who can flourish in the midst of diseases that kill off whole peoples. Oh! If such a one was to come from God, and not the Devil, what a force for good might he not be in this old world of ours."

I agree with the sentiment but there is a built in loophole within the Lore.

Divine Agency and Logic.

Why the hell would any God, chose a Paladin that is weak willed and would easily turn into an Oathbreaker?

Logic dictates they wouldn't as they have the freedom to select from among the best possible candidates who are likely to be able to see their vow fulfilled.

Paladin candidates also have a reason to fear breaking their Oath, which is making enemies out of the Gods or institutions they swore to serve.

From a logical standpoint all Gods are free to persecute anyone who pisses them off by becoming an Oath Breaker. No one can stop them since they have God like powers.

The only problem with Oathbreaker is that it need not exist from a mechanical stand point. You could technically be labeled in Lore as an Oathbreaker, while retaining your Holy Powers as a Paladin if you swear allegiance to a rival God of your original benefactor.
