While I do like the game a lot, I agree, that the tone sometimes is all over the place and there is a a lot of homebrew.
I would love, if they would fix up the story a bit, but that doesn't sadly seem to be a priority among the playerbase, given the requests for more romance scenes, being able to hug companions and stuff.
