There are a few classes I didn't try out because they don't appeal to me in a DND setting, like druid and monk. Although I like Jaheira as companion.
On tabletop, I preferred the cleric class, but on the PC it's not working for me. As a mage or fighter class, I find myself repeating mostly the same thing over and over again.
So to this moment, I had most fun (like in : very very much fun) with the ranger (spiced up with a little bit of rogue : L3 ) and the bard (spiced up with a little bit of warlock : L2)
I prefer my character to be in the lead when it comes to finding/opening/disarming things, and conversing.
In my current run, I got all 3 Thorm bosses in Eithridge village, and Yurgir kill themselves.
Especially the distillery boss was fun (I got so drunk myself)
In combat, a supporting role in the second line, with some sneak and/or invisible moves are my thing.
So contrary to many writers here, on the battlefield, all or more than half of the party get wiped out regularly when I play in balanced mode. But I'm not complaining.
