Unfortunately, that book is essential to moving forward in the game, I believe. You’re sure all the shelves are empty? It’s not in your travelers chest at camp? I mean… as far as I can recall, there isn’t another way to open the door and get the spear.
Thanks Ecc2ca for your answer! Yes I have returned many times to check if there is something I missed out or if there been a patch fix. I have also returned to every merchant I know to check if they sell the book. Thansk to this "bug" I have enjoyed many places I would probably miss otherwise. But know I have nothing else to do. All I want is to solve this Quest. Release the spear and beat a certain person connected to this Questline.
