Hello fellow players
It's time for another exciting survey.
Which class do you like the most?
After all this time, you can already get an idea and cast a vote.
I'm curious to see which classes you like the most.
This poll is not meant to be a list of which class is the strongest. It's really more about personal preference and fun.
You are welcome to specify the subclass and why in your post, as well as why you like it.
_________________________________________
I haven't tried all the classes yet myself, especially some of the subclasses.
But I like the Warlock best as a fiend and specialized as a melee fighter.
Why? I can easily learn many weapons to my weapon and I like the mix of dark mage in leather with a weapon that also hurts.
It was a close call because I also liked the Barbarian as a Wildheart the best.

I love the Ranger, Hunter.
Just love how the class is incredibly deadly, agile, versatile, adaptable and can be pretty much built however I'd want to. Being able to speak to animals natively is wonderful as well and more importantly it plays into my roleplay of a solitary yet deadly huntress living in the dangerous wilds.

Bard by far for me due to the fact I play guitar and I can associate with the traveling artist type of character, also as bard I can do it all- mele , ranged, caster, support . But overall it’s an amazing class that can do everything.
After bard my top classes are Rogue (assasin mostly ), Ranger, Warlock and Monk.
Pretty much all of my main characters have some combination of the above classes .
My favorite assasin type of multiclass is Ranger/ Rogue/ Warlock/ fighter multiclass for example .

I'm torn between the sorcerer and warlock, but ultimately went warlock because I'm playing one now, and it's somewhat nice to be able to use any melee weapon I want.
Still, on any other day, I might have chosen the sorcerer.

BARD by a long shot. They’re simply so much fun to play. The funny dialogue options, the high charisma, the playing a musical instrument. And if you get the other three members of your party musical instrument proficiency, it sounds amazing when you all play together. And the sheer force of personality of a bard really brings my characters to life.
However, in my next planned playthrough, I want to be a Dark Urge cleric of Selune romancing Shadowheart— but with a splash of bard in my background, because I just can’t resist. I’ll have a whole story justifying it or whatever. But yeah, bard 100% has been the most fun class for me. Astarion also makes for a nice bard.
Playing a light domain cleric in its own right is also really fun, especially in the Shadow Cursed lands. The Clerics have a lot less personality than the bards, though.
Edit: I play a college of lore bard, that’s what I like. Oh, and I also want to add, one of the things I like about the bard is their goofy costume, which I think adds to the roleplay and immersion.

There are other classes than bard? No, seriously, I love bard - just convincing people to kill themselves and save yourself the trouble is nice. Making music is great and just everything about bard rocks. There are otehr classes, I like too, but I always come back to bard.

Cleric because I like armoured spellcasters. The patron deity also adds a lot of RP value.

Tough call between monk and sorcerer. I really enjoyed both classes quite a bit, but if I have to just pick one I will go with monk.

Cleric. I don't think I've done a single playthrough where my party didn't include at least one full cleric. I can't really name one single feature I like about them. I think it's more about their versatility.
In regular DnD I generally like all the charisma caster classes most. But here I feel like they are missing some of the fun stuff. (Missing subclasses like Hexblade or Divine Soul, Magical Secrets not allowing some of my favourite DnD spells, Pact of the Tome and related evocations being much less useful than they should, ...)

Bard.
Because they sucked in previous iterations of D&D, but with D&D5, they now feel like a full featured class. Except I'm annoyed I cant use inspirations on myself.
My first character in BG1 was a Bard, but I soon learned that they are basically just massively crippled Fighter/Mages with some random but really irrelevant features, such as very high Lore. Allowed to wear armor, but cant, because then you cant cast spells. But cant cast many spells anyway. The song is poor, hardly ever develops, and makes you stand around passively. Etc. Awful.
Now with BG3 Bard is uber fun. For the moment I picked Halfling, to be even better at skills.
Other than that:
Fighter - Its kind of okay, but really they are still sort of boring, lacking options.
Barbarian - The literal one trick pony, but not bad. Fast movement for example is fun.
Paladin - Definitely my favorite kind of warrior. Third favorite class overall.
Ranger - See Rogue. Stealth is too slow. Not much of a fan of Druid magic either.
Rogue - The D&D5 Rogue rocks, but I'm still not into them. Stealth is too slow.
Cleric - In MMORPGs the Cleric has been my main. In offline games I never make them the protagonist. Too passive.
Druid - Never really connected much to Druid. In D&D of course I always had one in group, as second healer next to a Cleric. Now in BG3 theres no space for two healers though.
Sorcerer - Was my favorite class in BG2. In BG3 they are still my second favorite, after Bard.
Warlock - Dont really care about those.
Monk - Dont really care about those.
Favored Soul, Shaman, Psion - I was honestly surprised none of these are present in BG3.

There are a few classes I didn't try out because they don't appeal to me in a DND setting, like druid and monk. Although I like Jaheira as companion. On tabletop, I preferred the cleric class, but on the PC it's not working for me. As a mage or fighter class, I find myself repeating mostly the same thing over and over again. So to this moment, I had most fun (like in : very very much fun) with the ranger (spiced up with a little bit of rogue : L3 ) and the bard (spiced up with a little bit of warlock : L2) I prefer my character to be in the lead when it comes to finding/opening/disarming things, and conversing. In my current run, I got all 3 Thorm bosses in Eithridge village, and Yurgir kill themselves. Especially the distillery boss was fun (I got so drunk myself) In combat, a supporting role in the second line, with some sneak and/or invisible moves are my thing. So contrary to many writers here, on the battlefield, all or more than half of the party get wiped out regularly when I play in balanced mode. But I'm not complaining.

Normally, in D&D I play a wizard. But in BG3 I've had way more fun playing combat-oriented classes. My current Tav is a gnome barbarian (Lil F*****r, the Gnaked Gnome) and he's both effective and hilarious to play. Giant purple hair. Enormous returning spear. It's like watching a demonic, murderous troll doll running amok.
I've also really enjoyed playing through as a monk (well, a trap monkey to be more precise), though the ki thing.... seemed to be mostly absent. And as a paladin, which is a class I never played before. I, too, was surprised to see Favored Soul and Shaman missing from the game, as well as artificers, who seem like such a natural fit and already exist in npc-form.
I'm pretty familiar (as are most, it seems) with D&D base classes, so I've been enjoying multi-classing and exploring the nooks and crannies of the character sheets as much as the nooks of Faerun. Like the previous poster, I'm more focused on finding new things to do, or fun new ways to do the same old things, so I too suffer a lot of downed party-members in balanced mode.
Honestly, I haven't found a class yet that I don't enjoy playing as learning about each one and how they're implemented in BG3 is the sort of fun I signed up for in the first place. When I end up doing a tactical run, I'll probably have a different opinion, but right now the gnaked gnome tops the list in terms of sheer entertainment value.

Y’all are surprised shaman isn’t in the game? Shaman isn’t a 5E class. Why would you expect it?
Favored Soul was only ever a UA subclass so of course had no chance of making it into the game.

So far my favourite is rogue. This game is custom made for pack-rats and hoarders. Rogues can steal all the things. And mine does.
For a similar reason, bards come in a close second. My bard and Astarian have been tag-teaming their way across Faerun abusing perform and pickpocketing. Where the bard excels is in exploring all the dialogue and roleplaying choices.
Next come cleric, druid and paladin. They are all pretty much tied. I have found barbarian, fighter, wizard and sorcerer to be a bit bland.
I have not played rangers and warlocks. Rangers because I haven't gotten to them yet and warlocks for reasons (Wyll).

Interesting how you choose your class and why.
I find the stories and your attitude to the classes very interesting to read. Also because it's always so different why people do things and why they don't.
For example, I've never been much of a bard fan and tend not to play them, just like paladins aren't my cup of tea and I tend to avoid them in RPGs.
If I have a choice between e.g. warrior/fighter or barbarian classes, I'd rather take the barbarians as melee fighters because I like the idea of a fierce fighter more, but it has to be well implemented.
In BG3, the wild heart is quite nice when you dive deeper and deeper into the relationship between the animal aspects and their abilities later on in development.
Or I think it's also a good idea to design Kalach as a wild magic barbarian and then give her random effects in battle.
If I have the choice between clerics and druids, I'd rather take the druids, but I've never liked it in the rules of this DnD that in the end clerics can take and have almost all the magic/spells of the druids as well. I always thought that was a demotion of the druid class. It would just be far more immersive here if druids had a lot more magic to themselves.
When it comes to mages, I also tend to favor the Sorcerer over the Wizard. But that doesn't have to be the case if the game has a reasonable background in the form of guild houses and a story around it.
If this isn't there or is weak, so that the mage has little meaningful background, then from an RPG point of view I simply like the sorcerer more.
I always like rangers when the intgeraction and the option with a pet is given. But you should also have to pay more attention to your pet outside of combat, such as feeding it or being able to train it new talents and combat skills.
In combat, I like it when there are synergies between master and pet companion. This makes the battle between the two more dynamic and creates a nice depth.
And so I choose my favorite class and that varies from game to game, depending on how it fits into the world and how well it was implemented. So a necromancer can seem totally brilliant to me in one game, but in another game he's just a gray mouse because there's simply no good implementation and no good background.

Wizard.
Wizard just has so much flexibility.
Do I want to be a tank that can't die? Abjuration school.
Do I want to be the ultimate support? Divination school.
Do I want to be a summoner? Necromancy school.
Do I want to make things explode? Evocation school.
Any problem encountered in the game can be answered with "I've got a spell for that" - Plus some unique spells to boot.
Honestly, my only qualm with Wizard is just how underutilized the Int skills are compared to the plethora of Chr and Wis checks.

Sorcerer, specifically Storm Sorcerer. I've also played College of Lore Bard & Gloomstalker Ranger, and like them very much but Sorcerer is my favorite. I love the idea of blasting enemies with spells, and although Wizard is cool, I like the idea that magic is in my character's bloodline.
