When I launch the game using DirectX, the loading screen wheel will progress to 100% after 30-45 seconds and then seem to freeze before actually progressing to the start menu/"press any key" screen. The screen continues to play ambient audio and cycle between landscapes/tips, with my mouse icon changed to the menu hand, but will otherwise be frozen for at least 10 minutes. I do not get an error screen telling me what the issue is.

I first encountered this issue on November 11 after not playing for about a month. I tried launching using Vulkan instead of DirectX (this crashes my game immediately), verified the integrity of my game files on Steam, and cleared my local cache. I'm very confused why this is happening and maybe there's an obvious fix I'm just not seeing. Would appreciate any help or ideas people have here.

Same thing here. I don't have any mods installed. I bought the game on GOG so I have their launcher but that's all.
The game is frozen on 100% (if I click, I even get the "do you want to wait for the program to respond" Windows message) for like 10 minutes. Then it moves on to the "baldur's gate wilderness" screen.

EDIT : I tried lanching it using Vulkan instead of DirectX 11 and I don't have the issue anymore...

Launching the game on Vulkan didn't work for me. Currently going through this list to see if I can diagnose the issue:

Just an idea. Did you install an I/O device during the time you didn't play ? If you have joysticks or anything like that on the PC, can you pull them out and play with only keyboard and mouse attached ?

I don't have any devices on the PC that I didn't have a month ago when the game worked. I was considering whether it might be a storage issue, but I have over 200 GB free on the drive where my Steam library is installed so I'm not sure why it would give me issues now.

Also, since I didn't put it in the original post, I never installed any mods for Baldur's Gate 3.
