...After all, LotRO's outfitting system predates WoW's transmog system by almost three years, and is more comprehensive, more flexible and more complete in its options and what you can do with it.

Definitely +1 to this.

Ideally, I'd like a cosmetic system that lets me:
- slot something cosmetically for each equipment slot,
- a dye system to accompany it, so that we can change the colour palette of cosmetic items,
- if we're talking really ideal, maybe two or three different sets of cosmetic slots to set up and switch between,
- a wardrobe that can take the image of various pieces of equipment and weapons and remember them so that we don't need to physically keep every piece of nice-looking gear we come across, and can change our cosmetics around without worrying about 'losing' anything that we don't have the original of any more.

If a sixteen year old game can manage that for fourteen distinct body types and many thousands of individual pieces, I'm sure BG3 can at least match that if they try.
